I think it's Paul's eyes looking back through time they are seeing as per this from the first Dune book... “Try your tricks on me, old witch,” Paul said. “Where’s your gom jabbar? Try looking into that place where you dare not look! You’ll find me there staring out at you!”

The whispers are those of her female ancestors. The genetic memory activated by the agony. You must have a well developed personality to be able to handle the chatter from those who are gone.

4:04 The whispering is their ego memories, their ancestors speaking to them. They all (the ones hearing the whispering) have gone through the Agony.

I was in disbelief. Couldn’t believe they revealed this here on top of that a face dancer being a face dancer is mind boggling. I’m halfway thru chapter house right now and I still haven’t seen anything that crazy other than Duncan Idaho and Miles Teg

it’s not magic in the Dune universe. It’s the ability for these face dancers to control their muscles in their body to transform themselves rather than it just being magic. Also, the face dancing is extremely painful for them.

Loving all your Dune reactions! I know y’all are having way too much fun to care about lore accuracy (and I’m here for it!) but I feel like it would at least be helpful to know that there is no magic in Dune. If it looks like magic, it’s probably a finely honed skill, acquired through extreme discipline and often enhanced by drugs. These books are interested in humans, human potential and human limitations, so magic kinda undermines that. Every single faction in Dune is exploring these themes (Mentats, BG, Sardaukar soldiers, Fremen, Tleilaxu, Ixians etc). Hope that’s helpful but if not please carry on either way 🖤

It's actually based slightly in Sisterhood of Dune book by Brian Herbert Frank Herbert's son.

Dune: Prophecy is loosley based on the prequel "Sisterhood of Dune", co-written by Brian Herbert. He is an Executive Producer on the show and is Frank Herbert's son.

That shape shifter thing went completely over my head when I watched the episode 😂 I just thought it was some strange dream.
@iantaylor65282 күн бұрын
The shape shifter is actually a Tialaxlu face dancer prototype

I think there is a (very long) arc between the use of spice and the return of thinking machines that hunt humankind that comes out in God Emporer of Dune. (With a sidebar of when you control the future too directly - like the Bene Gesserit are attempting - it becomes foreseeable to others at some point and therefore a liability. )

Travis fimmel does a similar performance in Vikings. I’d call it more Ragnar than jack sparrow. Great show if you guys ever want something different.

I agree with your take, good show with good performances & 2nd half of episodes are fire, but theres pacing issues. Overall thumbs up

at 14:34 re: the actor playing it drunk: It's funny because to me it felt like he was doing his accent and drunken-playing of Ragnar in Vikings. Whatever accent he created for Vikings (it was different from any of the british or scandinavian actors on that show), I heard it immediately when he first appeared here in Dune. So your assessment is pretty spot-on 👍

The left One talk to much! Look, listen, but don't talk so much or you'll miss half of it! For this reason I prefer to watch alone!
@amandadeloff42782 күн бұрын
That's what a reaction channel does. Talks so it can be fair use. They can't just watch in silence, then they are just streaming the episode. And that will get taken down quick.
