You’re right Katie. This trailer is too short to make a determination to know if it’s going to be good or not. Hopefully there will be another trailer to give us a little more information. I also am with you Katie in the hopes that this is not just another girl boss show. (Did she say “Sisterhood above all”? Oh, here we go 🙄. Hollywood just can’t help themselves). I'll watch this because second only to LOTR this was my favourite book series when I was young. But this is 2024, so I'm not expecting to be happy with what they do with it. Do we know anything about the showrunners and writers?

Yea I'm in the same boat. Love the books too much not to watch it but really hoping that they aren't going to try and recreate the "Game of thrones" effect and have that sort of political drama. I love ASOIAF but honestly, the politics and philosophy are such that trying to match GOT would actually be a downgrade IMO. Streamers have been searching for the "next GOT" not realizing that some books do it as well or better.

unless i'm being dump I thought the purpose of the Bene Gesserit's was 1: to keep balance in the imperium so there was always the control of the noble houses. 2: to control the blood lines of these noble's to carry out point 1 and to create children that would eventually create the Kwisatz Haderach who would lead the human race to evolve. 3: to be a safe guard against machines after the Butlerian Jihad. So this movie just seems to be changing that and just driving towards women obtaining power for powers sake. I don't like that idea it's uninteresting, lazy and just more of the BS Hollywood has been producing. I didn't like the Dune movies, they looked good but I thought what they wrote, the characters they portrayed on screen were boring, unimaginative and not even remotely close to the depth of the ones in the books.

You are exactly right. The Bene Gesserit influences the noble houses and are guiding the bloodline on the path to their Kwisatz Haderach. I dont want to see max try and turn this into another "game of thrones" with everyone trying to gain the seat of power. The dune books have so much depth and nuance it would be such a waste.
