Dunfermline to Alloa - Alloa to Dunfermline Cycle - NCN route 764

This is a nice, easy ride on an old railway line. The length is 17.5km and is traffic free and is suitable for all, though be warned there is a steady incline in the direction Alloa to Dunfermline. We didn't follow the route all the way into Alloa itself as part of it is on road and we didn't have our helmets.

Thanks for your comment. Ahh, the old to wear or not to wear a helmet debate. Since this track is 'car free' and my average speed a little more than jogging pace, I chose not to wear a helmet. My choice was also influenced by my experience cycling in Holland where very few of the population where helmets due to car free cycle ways However, I do cycle on average 40-80 miles per week on roads with an average speed of 15mph + and you can be assured I do where a helmet.

Cycled this route a good few times - heading back to Alloa is better (slightly downhill lol) Only fault is it's a wee bit boring and I was coming home alone when the light started to fade one evening so I felt a bit isolated. Other than that great for families.

Can I please use a few clips from this video? I've cycled this path a couple of times and love it. I'm making a music video for Pedal on Parliament and wish to include examples of good and bad infrastructure. This path is going in as a good example. What makes you think you are imune from a skull fracture just because you are on a cycle path. All it takes is a dog running out in front of you, lose control, wiped out on a tree. Please bear this in mind next time you are out.
