The new camera work is nice, but I really liked being able to see the player's faces as Monty is describing things to them, and his reaction when the players respond. Only seeing one or the other takes away somewhat from the experience for me. Even a small window showing the others in the corner while the camera work is happening would be nice

First and foremost, I'd like to say welcome back. I appreciate all the content y'all put out and it's wonderful to see Drakkenheim again. I sincerely hope y'all'll be able to continue forward sith this unimpeded as WotC makes all their OGL changes. With that out of the way, you asked for comments/critiques on the new set up First, the video quality is amazing. I noticed that right off. It definitely feels much more professional. Second, personally, I don't like all the jump cuts between players. I prefer the old style where Jill, Kelly, and Joe are all in frame together. Third, I'm still at the beginning, but Jill's mic doesn't seem as clear as it has in the past. I assume this I'd because y'all're using an overhead mic instead of personal mics? I'll edit this later if that's fixed further in the video Again, I appreciate all the amazing work that y'all do and I look forward to the entertainment to come

As an artist myself, loved the paintings themselves and the Jamiroquai/Mario 64 reference with jumping into them 😁 Dr. Monty's rendition of each classic painting was amazing!

Awesome that you’re all back to basement sessions! ❤ I have a bit of feedback: As cool as it is with the dynamic camera work, I 100% prefer the old static view of Monty and the players at once. It was so much more relaxing to watch when I could chose where to focus my eyes at every moment. The panning and switching back and forth between shots unfortunately gives me motion sickness. And the mics: Monty’s mic is great! The players mics are echoey and low volume. Hope this helps a bit. Love you guys! ❤😊

Hi DoD team. Great to see you back in the room together. I personally liked the online format too, but I can see how much it means to all of you to be able to just get together around a table like a regular, old school session. I also like the editing of the camera work; nice work, Kyle. But I think you need to rethink the sound recording for the players; Monty comes though clearly, but Jill, Kelly and Joe often sounded quite distant, both in sound volume and the amount of room reverberation. I think you need to get the mics closer to them. I understand that you probably want to get the mics out-of-shot as much as possible, but from a sound engineering perspective there is nothing that can replicate the improvement in audio quality that comes from just getting the mics closer to the speaker. From the in-person experience, I still think the best quality was when you guys had seperate mics on the table for each of the players.

Great to have you back in the basement! In terms of editing, while the zoomed in shots were good at times, the constant change of POV is a bit distracting. It'd be nice to only use these more parsimoniously, with the wide shot where you can see all of you during scene descriptions being the default "mode". It's good to be able to see everyone's reactions :) I loved the zoom on the battle map to show all the details. It looked great! 👍

There seems to be a little bit of feedback in the audio with this new set-up. It's not quite as clean as it was with the remote gaming set-up. There is also some volume balancing that should be done between everyone. Maybe a solution to this would be getting individual mics for everyone to clip on their shirts? Idk, just an idea. Great show as usual, glad to see y'all back at it.

I think it would have been interesting if the players got to run the monsters that the paladins were trying to defeat and monty got to play the paladins. That could have led to great stories when the paladin was recounting the battles. Maybe they could be a tales of drakkenheim?

Hi all, so happy for you guys to play together in the basement again! Been mostly listening in to the video, whilst playing a game, but what i saw looked fine and quite natural/raw footage. Thanks for staying mostly real. Must say i liked the start where you got a shot on you all one by one for the introduction. First i thought Kyle was supersmooth and sharp in clicking over to the next camera, but i guess that was just stellar editing to get those switches so crisp. On the shenanigans of WOTC, i hope to see lot's and lot's of Drakkenheim campagne('s) and the Dungeon dudes aswell, don't sell out to corporate " demons ". But i hope you can find a grey area where you can consistently keep making 5e related videos. bye!

I think Joe’s helmet is making his voice reverb. You may want to consider a helmet mod or a different way of micing him. It’s not bad, but I noticed it immediately when he first spoke. Great to have the thumb back!

@@mariodesousa2372 if I remember correctly, it's not double damage for crits but max dice plus roll. Also, Ignatius probably gives him an extra dice, which would significantly add to his crits. Did he use any maneuvers? Because those would also increase the crits

Fun watch. Here's some feedback just based on the sound. 1. Veo and Pluto need their own mic. Kelly is nice and clear but the other two are "off mic". 2. Monty is sounding raspy. IF you can EQ your voice, turn down the Hi freq a bit. The 3 shot at 4 min 45 sec, might be better when you're moving minis. Just splitting it up makes the focus shift from the player talking, which I think you'd prefer it to be. Otherwise, it's a fun watch. Thanks!

It may be that ya’ll need a bit of backlighting and the cross light is too bright (or maybe it needs a color gel). However that’s a pretty small nit to pick; overall it’s a production level up from two years ago.

FEEDBACK: I love the dynamic camera work going on. Focusing in on players as they react is really cool and I like being able to see them full screen. I think the audio can use some tightening up. Monty sounds perfect and clear. Audio for everyone else sounds lower volume and with some echo.
