They've been advocating, fighting so hard just to have a say, dismissed and overruled at every turn... Then in one instance, their fortunes started to turn. Admission: I mainly learn about modern forms of social media from what used to pass as social media… I say this, as this may well be the first ever proper “modern social media” post I have ever made (facebook personals excepted?) . I guess I am just one of those sad, old fellows that needs to explain himself. Where was I? I have been hoping to tune in to your live twitter stream in order to tell you how much I have enjoyed Dungeons of Drankenheim, and the reasons why. Finally, on your first birthday, I will. I most wanted to say what a solace you have been for me, during a very difficult time in my life. My mother died last year, followed by a constant companion (don’t laugh! - my cat, Amber, who was 23 years old when she finally left). At the beginning of the year, my partner was diagnosed with bladder cancer. By this point, it kind of felt everything was just going tits up. Her illness was unexpected, serious enough to demand immediate admission for an operation, followed by chemo treatment, and eventually a final bladder removal (and other bits). It still leave me dizzy when I think about it. I am pleased to report a happy ending: as far as anyone can ever hope, my partner is now cancer free, embracing her new life with a stoma and a wig, and is as happy as I ever known. Much stronger a character than me, but that is another story. I am sorry if it feels like I have digressed from the point of what you are all about and what your followers expect to read. So to get to the point… at the beginning of the year I picked up on a DnD literary retrospect one of my old DnD playing chums had on his shelf, called “Arts and Arcana”. I bought it and to cut an already long story short, this led me into the purchase of the whole 5e “rules” set… I was so hooked by it all, I started wondering about maybe starting a game again myself. So FINALLY I get to the point of what I want you guys to know. I am 51 years old. An ORIGINAL DnDer (still have all my old books and modules). It was only when I started to look online, that I really started to ferment again. I found you Dungeon Dudes and got totally hooked on Dungeons of Drakenheim, and starting watching all the back episodes on KZbin until I caught up, shortly before Monty’s holiday. But the real output of this inspiration is that I have resurrected an old, unplayed idea for an adventure that has laid dormant in my imagination since my early 20’s. It has now turned into a full-blown campaign… and the ideas keep on coming. Two (equally old) friends are up for it, and later this month we will dive into the delirium of dicedom once again. After a 25 year+ hiatus. All of this is a very round-about way of saying that you young Dungeon Dudes and Co, have made a big difference in the life of this ex, old dungeon dude. You helped inspire me at a time when my life was in shadow, providing a light that kept me focused in ways I am not sure anyone who has never played the game would appreciate. I don’t know what is around the corner for my partner, me, or the grand DnD campaign I have planned. But all things considered, what’s the worse that could happen? Much love, respect… and please keep up the good work.

Not just goofy, but also serious when it needs to be done, at least most of the time. Many forget that it all is to be taken in moderation and either goof off when things should be done seriously, or are deathly serious and no fun at all. It isn't always perfect (Sebastian does sometimes overload on the goof side of things), but in the majority of sessions they've been doing that moderation quite well, a decent example to follow.

What better way to celebrate an anniversary than with starting a new war? That mass giggity at the 32 minute mark was rather funny. C'mon, Sebastian, it's just a surprise new girlfriend you may occasionally get! 's not a burden, it's a perk~ I wonder - what about the existing queen? Has everyone written her off by now? Veo was rather loyal to her personally - would there be a personal confrontation and whatnot should there come a moment of "you have outlived your usefulness"? It's pretty clear that she isn't going to be a new/renewed ruler, but still, she seems to wield some personal power at least... not to mention knowledge of things, if she can remember. It's nice to see the player characters' stories all building them up into positions of importance and power in ways that feel more or less natural. Mages are control-freaky and conniving much as I expected them to be (though I do hope they'll be amenable to working their magic on the back lines and in supply routes, even if they don't want to enter the fray themselves) but it's nice to see them start giving back to Sebastian. Compliments Veo's watch status nicely, now. After they recover the next plot trinket, they'll once again be able to control the wall ornaments and defences, too - means they may have an easier time defending against Allyria/Flame Texas. And I also wonder if they'll be facing Ophelia Reed down the line... paladin boss is a given, but Ophelia is the unknown. Another thing I wonder about is when they're going to visit the crater - it seemed absent from their late-session discussion, but it may be that the answers to how to teleport into Drakkenheim again may lie at the bottom of that crater as well. Was it a Darkest Dungeon demiplane comet-summoning array? Was it a ritual the remnants of which they may find? A powerful creature? It will be fun to find out... The only question, I guess, is whether the Crater is more dangerous than the Castle, and which of the two is going to be visited and explored first. I kind of felt included when Monty described the mages beginning to throw theories about monster provenance around! I and all the many others who have theorized about the campaign so far. Yay, I/we get a possibly unintentional campaign cameo too, and as archmages no less! Also that IRL group hug was sweet.

I've been listening to this through via podcast mostly, but I've been bouncing back to YT occasionally. I was so conflicted when Pluto didn't give up Ignatius, it could've solved so many problems not to mention the amount of bargaining power they could've had with the Order. Jackson 5 could've been rid of their truth stick (I don't recall when this has been useful for them anyways). Sure, it being a magic weapon with fire damage is nice but I'm sure a better weapon would come along. They could've bargained with them to leave, even if temporary, from Drakkenheim and spared the bloodshed, or possibly even reignite their truce together. I understand the group logic in that the Order was looking to burn down the city and that doesn't fly, but they could've atleast bargained that the Orders plan as "Plan B".

Monty is super lenient about the players banter with eachother. They start being silly and speak openly regardless of who is around them even in serious situations. Monty has only exploited that a couple of times. Basically, anytime they wonder how the Queen of Thieves knows something they can only blame themselves. lol

Theocracies are ideal only if the patron deity is good, just, omniscient and fair, and if its followers obey it in its entirety. To me, it sounds like Alyria is flawed--convinced of its own self-righteousness and imposing that on others under the guise of piety. Here's hoping Drakken-Force can win out. I suspect that delerium and the haze are inextricable. The haze will always grow more delerium, and delerium will always draw in more haze. That's my suspicion, at least. Time will no doubt reveal the truth.
