If the answer to this is circle then its a really stupid riddle. If you define the first cat as first then it might have two behind it. But then the third one has to have two in front of it. Or am I not understanding something obvious here?

If three are walking in a circle, then technically, each has two in front, two behind, one in front and one behind. All of that is true. The riddle does not list every option, it only lists some of the possibilities and asks how it can be true with only three.

A somewhat grim solution to the riddle. The walking is not literal. They are "walking" through life towards death. Each cat has their father "behind" them, it just happens the father of the third cat already died.

Yeah, I got a solution too. But most likely incorrect. The cats are walking in a triangle but bottom edge cats are sidestepping facing outward, so they are behind each other, and looking in the direction cat 1 is. This can with a lot of imagination create an arrow pointing down

~23 mins. Walking in a circle. In that way you always have 2 behind you, or in front of you and one if front and after you. Easy. This leads to wondering any round object. Or in a brighter sense a magical circle, some portals, round staircase, moon, earth, circular motion in time that leads to spiral... Time is a circular thing specially in our time when we use round clocks. And that becomes from the circular motion of the Earth orbiting sun, or in D&D belief sun orbiting Earth (see also our middle ages, greek thinking and calculations on how sun and planets moves, before Copernicus et al.).

And even past has been present at some time having its future and past beside him. And because time flows to same direction (in a singular universe), the all go to the same direction.

The 2nd riddle may be a clue to the 1st. Once halfway in, if the path turns back, the position of each on the path is true for the first 2, but their actual position for the 3rd is also true. 1 past the curve and heading back. 2 at the curve, and 3 approaching the curve.

Well the only thing i can say about the riddle is you can absolutely eliminate any ideas about them following eachother around a circle. No independent objects moving around a circle's circumference could be moving in the same direction...

Dr. Monty, just a reminder in case it isn't the intention, but spells casted as Ranged Attacks have disadvantage if a creature that is hostile is within 5ft of them. "Creature" probably needs to be better defined, for example what sort of objects might be creatures? Is a spooked rat nearby hostile? etc. Not positive if it was something that might've affected this session(the telekinesis from Wrath?) or not, but just wanna give you all the tools available for you to challenge these 3 :)

I noticed in your most recent video there seems to be cuts during the live play? Jill in the riddle about the cat crossing the river seems to be working on the riddle and then there is a pretty obvious cut. Are you guys cutting out long pauses in progress now with your shorter format? I find you guys pretty funny and wouldn't mind another video loaded without any editing!

Talk to them outside the game to explain you will give everyone time to shine. If they keep it up, you might have to kick them

Remind them that D&D isn't a solo game but a team story being created with no player having more importance than the other? There's joy in being a team player & helping others in the party have their moment to shine. They should focus on trying that & they'll hopefully realise it & lose that "main character syndrome". And if they're an irremediable "Orion" then maybe this isn't the game/table for them?
