Man this video is a good reminder that not all the giants are evil. When you usually only encounter Hill and frost giants it's easy to forget that. Even the frost giants aren't necessarily evil, just fairly competitive and aggressive and prone to not caring about the small folk.

I see the giant gods of the Forgotten Realms are majorly inspired by the real-world Norse gods and mythologies... with totally nice original twists. Great video, AJ. I never really looked into these guys because my campaign world was my own creation. I see I should have got that for inspiration, would have saved me hundreds of hours of world-building time.

I'm conflicted by the giants. On one hand, most of them are cool. On the other hand, they hate ALL dragons, even good ones. If the historia is restored, dragonkind (Including lesser dragonkind like dragonborn and draconic bloodline Sorcerers) are going to be in mortal danger. No wonder it hasn't happened yet, that would actually break 5e for these worlds. I'm wondering wherein this rivalry started, were Annam and Ao enemies?
@AJPickett4 жыл бұрын
Io is the dragon god, not Ao. The fact is, the giants were on Toril first and the dragons attacked the giants first.

Dragons have always been since before the law and chaos wars Giants are like humanoids in that they are a new race of beings that developed as the prime material and outer planes were created and devopled substance as a plane bound by reality rather then elemental chaos.... Dragons flew thru the world LONG before most beings and devoured the nutrients of the elemental chaos to grow.hence why they are soooo elemental driven powers.... When law fought chaos Dragons so ancient that they are long forgotten fought for law and maybe also chaos.... Asmdoues is actually a ancient red dragon god And the god of coutls is his consort Lg and Le dragons led the charge againest chaos and created the outer planes we know today

Friðrik Gretuson also DND canon has Norse mythology,Olympian mythos,and Egyptian mythology As official canon Ysgard is a plane and Odin rules a pocket of it and his god pantheon. Will you ever do the real mythological creatures DnD stuff is based off of? Like the militarized lizard-men are based on the African mythical 'Intulo', and that myth story is the most metal shit I've heard. Oh, and the Yuan-Ti are based on the actuall mythical creatures called the 'Chitauri' from Xhosa and Zulu myth. The funny thing is, the ones in the myth are way more insane, brutal and OP'ed than the DnD versions.
