@@sr.l8366 One of my favored characters was a dwarf cleric (of Mord or course) who had this phrase of "I can't heal ya unless yer injured". My regular GM on one of the games decided to have a little fun at the other players expense and gifted this character a +3 war hammer of healing so that when ever I would use that phrase I'd raise that hammer towards the person. The GM later put limits on it as it worked just a little too well against undead.

@@carlsmith4568 I feel that. Our GM decided that she didn't want me to have any fun at all during our sessions. She openly admitted to it when I confronted her down the line to work things out. It was my first time ever playing dnd and she wouldn't let me switch classes at level 3 or 4, can't remember which.. but whatever, her overall actions turned me off to the game entirely. After wasting 8+ sessions of being directly targeted by the GM and made fun of by her friends both in and out of character, the mere thought of playing it again always makes me cringe.

@@sleep4425 Dang, I feel that. The first session for me was a bust too. Impatient GM who didn't want to teach me anything while doing my first session and I felt so out of it and just left after the first session. Thankfully found another GM and another party who is much more patient and fun and willing to teach me more. Hoping to even GM one day in the future with a customised campaign too. TL;DR: There will always be bad people, but they don't make the game bad. Just keep trying until you find the right group of people who will support you. :)
@moralityisnotsubjective5

@@karifuko I second this. I once had to deal with the nastiest killer GM who bullied players he didn't like and tried constantly to kill their characters. Then once he felt he'd had his fun he got the half of the group he liked to vote out the half he didn't. Soon after I heard he'd run off to California. So basically he ruined our group for shits and giggles. There are always those kinds of people sadly. Just find a decent, friendly group of people and try again, A good gaming experience is a wonderful thing. Don't let the douchebags ruin things for you.

Update on the session: In the main campaign, my Air Genasi Fighter was chloroformed by a dragon cultist and had a memory of an arena match he saw a decade ago as a one-shot. One of the Fighters was my 6’11”, 375lbs Dragonborn Paladin, Dolri, who moonlights as a Gladiator names Wicked Blue and fights like a foreign wrestling heel. He was along with my friend’s Tortle Fighter and a Goliath Paladin. So, squad of absolute units. The arena show ended with the Goliath and I trading Lay On Hands to save each other from death. On 1 HP, my Paladin flanked with the Goliath Paladin, we both cast Thunderous Smite, and with a combo of my Hunter’s Mark, the lightning reverberated and burst a Gelatinous Cube like a speaker overloaded with bass. As the cube exploded, Dolri acknowledged he was a good guy in Silverymoon, and left having made two new friends. Meanwhile, Tomera the Air Genasi also got to see a memory of his boyfriend Andrew and the man who later ruined his life. So, FULL NIGHT.

@Michael Hinojosa I had a tpk thanks to botched rolls once, back when we used the “nat ones damage yourself” house rule. The first death was a tragedy, the second a frustration, the third a comedy, the fourth hilarious. When the fifth and last party member died by falling off a rickety bridge as he ran from everything we failed to kill before we all agreed it was the best way the game could have ended. Good times!

Greg, you're probably never gonna see this anymore, but today my D&D group was having a chat and someone mentioned the White Russian and someone else went "Russians don't exist in this world, that would be a White Dragonborn" and then a conversation started about possible cocktails based on D&D races, like a White Dragonborn would have to be a slushie (the same thing but as a frozen solid ice lollie would be White Dragon) and a red dragon could have Fireball, and it reminded me of your channel. There's a lot of potential inspiration in the various races (think Drow Daiquiri as well) so Iunno, if you'd be interested, might be fun to have another D&D episode 2 years later..?

I've tried making health and mana potion cocktails before. I know mana potions aren't a D&D thing, but they're still a fixture in fantasy. I remember my mana potions actually came out really good, health potions were just OK. Unfortunately I don't remember either recipe any more. I also tried to make them not just taste good (and strong), but fit the theme. My mana potion was slightly effervescent and I think I used some grapefruit vodka in it to give it the slight tingly/numbing effect grapefruit can have. I also put edible pearl dust in it to make it visually sparkly and magical looking. I tried to make the health potion a bit herbal and medicinal.
