@shishenliart insane claim. They sell exact copies on ebay and Chinese rep sites all the time. I've seen them for about 100 bucks.
@shishenliart10 ай бұрын
@@ar007r never did I say there are no fakes. Just that the cost to successfully create a convincing fake/replica is astronomical. If they can create the exact same components inside and out, with the tolerances required, then it's as good as a Dunhill's. How would they even make enough money manufacturing extremely precise, tiny components, for $100?? Even Dunhill themselves had to forego the economics of making their own Rollagas lighters. Your claim that the vast majority of grey market Dunhills are fake is what's insane. But go ahead and argue for argument's sake I guess.

I bought a very old Dunhill Rollalite. I got it working. But the thumb wheel seems as if it's not engaging the flint striker that well. It seems as is the the flint screw may be stripped. When I push down on the flint striker while I spin the thumb wheel it sparks really well. But anyway. Thanks. Good upload!

I had a hobnail gold one and sadly it was stolen out of my car. It is the greatest lighter ever made. I use a ligne 2 now. Here’s why I missed about the rollagas versus the DuPont: - Form factor it’s narrow and fits my hand perfectly versus the wider DuPont. -function; people don’t know how great that flame adjustment wheel is. They think it’s an eye sore but you can always adjust your height daily. The DuPont has to unscrew. -the fast refill cap. Instead of unscrewing you press and turn. It springs out. Fantastic lighter. Build quality, reliability and looks goes to DuPont. I love them both and miss my dunhill.

Just bought a Cartier 1970s lighter. Good condition and working. However, I cant see where the flame adjuster is. The owner thought its the screw on the base that houses the flint spring but I think thats unlikely. The gas fill port in the base is not very accessible either. Were there built in automatic adjusters for a fix flame size on some Cartier models?
@the808life3 жыл бұрын
You may have to take out the tank and adjust nozzle. Just a slight turn probably
@rafaeltorre16432 жыл бұрын
They are all adjustable. If it’s the same type, like a rollagas, its on top, not the bottom. Its so you can adjust while lit like a ronson Veraflame. I have both and repair them. I’m amazed how they are meant to last forever. Gaskets and sponges if not damaged. Thats it, except cleaning if someone was a chain smoker and didn’t bother to clean it, then it will be like cleaning an old heater, lol.

Hello. I have the tortious lighter pictured here. I just received it. The light was NOS original papers box etc. My question is when I went to fill it I saw there was no skinny fuel adapter in there for the dunhill butane adapter to fit over to fill it up. Is this normal, or is something fishy here? Thanks, Will
@PlanetLighter7 жыл бұрын
When you sent the Rollagas to Dunhill to be repaired or serviced, they replace them with the needless valves. They believe the needle is obsolete--HOWEVER--you will still need to use the Dunhill adapter! I have a few with needle vales and a few without. I see no difference other than the fact that I have to be more careful when refilling that I don't damage the needle.

How important is it to use Dunhill Butane. They have 7x refined butane available in canada? would this suffice considering its all least 3x refined? Anything would help
@PlanetLighter8 жыл бұрын
+Art “The Chief” Rooney I have little faith in what is written on a label, but I really trust Vector. It's 5x refined and burns really clean. If Dunhill and Vector are not available, you can use Newport or Lotus. A good rule of thumb is to use the the best butane you can get. With butane, you get what you pay for. But in theory, the more times refined, the cleaner it burns.

I've recently got my hands on one of these awesome lighters but after 5 days of use it started leaking gas from the top, I've tried adjusting it to its lowest setting but it now spews tons of the gas that I put into it. If I could fix it myself that would be awesome but I'm pretty sure I can't. Is there any way to remedy my situation or am I just out of luck?

+CJ Diaz if you are good at working with small(and delicate) mechanical objects, I would say order the DIY kit and fix it. New O-rings will fix it. If you get it apart and can't figure out how to finish it, send it to me and I'll complete it for you. But i'm quite sure you can do it if you really want it. If you're not sure about any part of the process, I'll talk you through it. With a little patience, you can do it. Let me know if you need help.

how much is the light you use on the video cost ?
@PlanetLighter8 жыл бұрын
+thehegt Tr A new Dunhill will range from $450 (for a "base model") to $20,000+ for solid gold or platinum. It depends how much bling you want. However, all of these lighters are vintage. I bought them on eBay for around $100 each. They all had leaks so I had to restore them back to working order. I replaced all o-rings and changed the fuel filters. Most of them had missing springs; which I had to reproduce by hand. I restore them for people as well.

how do i remove the old flint,it seems to be stuck
@PlanetLighter8 жыл бұрын
+Randy Rodrigues If gravity doesn't cause the flint to drop out when the flint housing is open and the lighter is inverted, it may be stuck due to swelling; the result of humidity and age.(or just the wrong size flint from the start). The only solution is to disassemble the whole lighter and drill out the old flint; being careful to not bore out the inner walls of the flint chamber. I start out with the smallest of a tiny set of jewelers drill bits, positioned directly in the center of the flint,using a jewelers drill press, and slowly increase the size of the drill bit. You could get lucky and use some less drastic techniques to free the flint, but either way, it will have to be disassembled to gain access. When the lighter is stripped down, it would be a good idea to go ahead and do a full service: change o-rings and filter, and replace any missing springs. There are Do It Yourself kits on eBay if you have the tools and feel comfortable doing all that. Or you can send it in to Dunhill to have it serviced for $160 or so after shipping(and wait 8-12 weeks). Or you can send it to a lighter guy like myself who can fix it and send it back within 24 hours of it's arrival. I have restored several Dunhill Rollagas'(50+). I have all of the special jewelers tools to do it right. I charge $55 and I don't charge for return shipping anywhere in the USA. Let me know if you want more information.

I would never advocate the use of a case for your lighter. The natural enzymes in the leather and the chemicals used in the tanning process will wreck your lighter. Instead, dedicate a pocket from your clothing to keep your lighter in. Any of the cotton pockets on a pair of jeans, or the nylon pocket of a suit jacket or trouser pocket would do. Just DON'T use a case please.
