The inconsistency of finishing nerfed me as a whole player. I’m a slashing PM at heart. Have been since 18. Got my irl’s lookin at me crazy like I just lost all my iq overnight🤦🏽‍♂️ Can’t make a layup with a 90. I never activate the animation that I see when buying a package. They slow me down for a block or a miss…even if I’m past my defender. RNG killed this game early. Diabolical work 2K 😂

I either get taken out the dunk or get a very early there’s no in between with a 95 driving dunk mind you. I just played someone yesterday with a 90 driving dunk he went 6/7 made every dunk he attempted without meter meanwhile my player takes 30 years to even start a dunk animation it’s so weird

Yea it’s still 50/50. They need to bring back all mechanics from 2k23. Dunking was amazing and not even op cuz if you cut our lane off back then you’d stop up. But yea legendary posterizer with 99 dunk at 6’8” and I barely get my posterizer animations like what’s the point of buying all those dunk packages??? Bring 2k23 back the speed shooting, finishing, and defense were perfect! Even with the takeover still getting blocked by smaller guards in fhe 1v1 PG courts!!!!!!!!

I was on a pure slasher SF build, and I played against the #1 pro am team in the world and could keep up with no issues. 2k22 was great, and 2k23 was great. The issue with 2k25 is that your dunks just refuse to trigger. You can beat your man and have a wide open lane and it forces a layup animation. You can go for a contact dunk with great positioning and timing and get a very early or very late or just get bumped out of the animation. Even with a 99 dunk. The reason that people make 99 stat builds is so that they can dunk or shoot at will and you have to be skilled enough to stop them. I've had more contact dunks on my 6'2" with 89 dunk than my 6'8" with 97 dunk and even then I get put into layups when I'm trying to skill dunk. In previous 2ks you could force the skill dunk animation, even if you missed you were still able to at least go up for a dunk attempt.

Just hate the fact that it’s all RNG and there’s no meter for it, I haven’t played this years 2k25 but damn that’s frustrating to know that they still haven’t got slashing right and that it’s forcing lots of layups, I do have to ask you a question though have you ever tried a build with high strength and high finishing together? I’ve noticed in all the previous years having a build with 90+ strength and really high finishing will reduce the chance of someone taking you out of a contact animation

The best layup setting this year is low risk. If you play on RealPlayer percentage it will affect your ability to dunk. I tested it I was definitely doing less dunks with real player percentage on than without it low risk also affects your ability to dunk but definitely not as noticeable as real player percentage. I'm not talking about meter dunks I'm talking about a square button dunks or with the stick. And the funny thing about what he said is I actually seen in an NBA game this year where a guy blocked the ball inside the hoop

I can shoot it if needed but I have 91 speed with ball and 96 dd so it limits my character so much, then if the shooting is trashed as it has been then my character literally can't do anything. You did hit the nail on thought it's not that I'm being taken out of dunks its who be taking me out of the dunks, 5'9 point guard with 70 interior defense at best. I'm like a whole foot taller than him and my dunk rating is way higher than his interior defense rating but that's not the only advantage that 2K gives to small guards I could guarded 6'2 guard in the paint about the lay the ball up the guy will literally jump on my back and shove me Midway lay up and there will be no call. They allow guys who should have never even thought about coming to the paint to come down and D you up

@@waff6ix i have builds with 73 and 85 strength both have 89 driving dunk, the 73 trength is 6'9 the other is 6'6 both max wingspan, the 6'6 one gets more contacts than the 6'9 but both still get throwed outta animation hella often. although i will say the 6'6 does get alot of putback contacts , and the 6'9 finishes most contact alley oops. i didnt make a build with higher and based off this i'll be using my cap breakers elesewhere and just scrap the 93 dunk

This game is so scripted it even appears in the practice facility. I was doing 1v1 defense drills and noticed i didn't have control of my player. I took my hands completely off the controller (out of frustration), and my man completed the drills without me.

I was wondering if he talking about big builds because even though you have a 99 driving at 6'2 you might catch some body's but most of the time it will put you in a lay animations especially against 6'5 and up . What I’m saying is I have a 99 block rating and there’s a lot of blocks I feel my player should get. But he doesn’t alway get it. I have a build with 96 driving dunk. I get a lot of contact dunks. But I also miss quite a few. After the patch update my 93 driving dunk pg definitely started jamming on people more. But again the logic we have will never be enough as a community.m we always want more and want the game to favor our likings. The issue is we can’t have it all.

Explain how the physics of the game is going to make you just go into a dunk animation when someone cuts you off before you jump ? these aren't Euro dunk attempts where the game can allow you to two step around the person or go into an animation where you can still dunk, these are two regular speed steps and you're getting cut off before you jump. What do you think should happen ? Y'all want realism in the game and then want non realism at the same time. If you jump before being made contact with you'll usually get some kind of poster animation or you'll just get a dunk that you can time, but even in real life if someone cuts in front of you before you even jump you're probably not dunking on them and even when two people collide in the air the person with the ball doesn't always win. Whenever my dunk attempts get cut off, it's usually a force and a bad attempt on my part. You gotta take some accountability for bad dunk attempts.You saying it's 60/40 what should it be 100 percent of the time you get the dunk attempt animation ?

@waff6ix so because a defender is smaller he should have no way of stopping a bigger player ? even if that player is only 2 or 3 inches taller ? 99 dunk and legend posterizer means if you are in a dunk animation you have a better chance of making it. It doesn't mean even when you're cut off you can just leap over every defender. The game has to have some balance.

Id be ok with having the random element remain on a non meter bar dunk. However, the intended purpose of having a SPECIFIC command to trigger a dunk meter is to allow the players control to attempt a dunk. Its stupid that you have such a command and it only SOMETIMES does it. Imagine this on another game like Street fighter for example, imagine capcom turned around and made it so if you're ryu and do QCF punch to do a hadoken that you will only get a hadoken 50% of the time and instead ryu just throws a punch despite inputing the correct input. Thats the problem with meter dunking this year and to answer your question, yes absolutely the dunk animation should still trigger even if a defenders there, if you want to balance it out, just make the green window smaller if the defenders in a good position.

I think the comparison you made though is apples to oranges. Let's take 2k itself. If you throw a full court pass to a teammate and I impede his forward progress, the ball will usually sail out of bounds. The game's physics engine can't make the ball curve once the pass has been thrown and if the receiver went right through the defender you would say that's unrealistic. Correct ? So when you take one step to dunk when using the dunk meter and i cut you off on the second step, in your opinion, what do you think should happen ?

@@blax52vet if we going to talk realism, if you cut someone off while they are in motion to attempt a driving dunk or a layup, that would be a blocking foul so if youre just running into their driving lane to cut them off without setting your feet it should be a foul. 2k doesnt have such animation. In practice if you are attempting to cut off their driving lane you STILL would need to create some space to set your feet to take a charge and generally in those scenarios in the nba, a dunk attempt would still happen. This is a video game and i am in the opinion that the dunk animation should happen regardless as long as the required distance and motion is met. Every other shot you can do whether its a fade, a hook shot, a floater etc would still come out every time whether its a good take or not as long as you input the correct input, the only variable is the size of the green changes or sometimes there is no green window and its strictly a bad take but the animation still occurs. Im just saying it should be somewhat the same case with the dunk meter in that the "move" should come out if you input the command.
