Use that CC for a thick juicy (booty-) slap. Two delays on one board is the bare minimum, imho.

I love its not messing with the sound, I bought hand wound pickups and upgraded my gear for hundreds of dollars just to get my sound, then I dont whant any pedal to mess my sound up, or color it in a different way, thats what most pedal makers dont get.

Alex, Thank you for twisting the knobs! So many demos talk about the range of pedals but by fiddling around with the knobs, I got a much better understanding of what the Echoplex is capable of! Superior demo video!

The best sounding live delay I ever used was a unit called the Alligator Boy by Dentone. He used the same PT digichip that has been ubiquitous for ages, but spent years honing the circuit. And he got an incredible approximation of 12AX7 tube saturation on those repeats. Cut right through the mix and was very pleasing to the ear.

I am a bassist that's now learning guitar. I am a huge tone junkie and after listening to many videos this is the cleanest and warmest of them all. I really liked walrus audio D1 but the highs were to bright and harsh. Too many of the others had a slight sci-fi sounding reverb. As the dude said, this doesn't mess with your tone. Get your tone right, put this at the end and your done.

I think it's the best as well. I've tried loads of analogue and digital delays. It emulates a real Echoplex very well. I know I had one but got rid of it as I kept tripping over it.

Basically if you can get that type of tone out of your guitar and amplifier which I think is amazing then when you tell me that this is the best delay pedal I'm taking you very serious. Me too, I don't want all the special effects and Shimmers, I just want a great-sounding delay LOL and the same tone you have. Super great review. BTW I love how you can talk over your guitar and both are still crystal clear

Volante is the best tape delay so far for my tastes. But I also use other delays on the board as well like Adineko or Keeley ECCOS. Even my Digitech Obscura sounds really good. And I'm still trying to pick an Echoplex style pedal. This is a nice one from Dunlop!

i just ordered one, i was wanting the Strymon El Capistan V2 but just couldnt justify the extra cost for something i dont use that much. I do have a couple other Strymon pedals that I dearly love. One pedal lots of folks dont know about that I really dig is the OKKO Diablo gain plus which is long discontinued but the best OD pedal Ive ever used

Many of these delay pedals are great. I have found the problem with some that it screwes with the high end-like Canyon & Carbon Copy. I think it is required to get the pre amp. I went the Catlinbread with the pre amp. I wish I went tith the Echoplec & preamp.- I love analong delay much more than reverb etc.

For me, the best delay would have three knobs, at least 1 sec delay time, trails and be super quiet. Sounds easy, but noise is a problem even with expensive boutique ones.

I had this early in my pedal experience and I knew it was good then but it's only become better in time against other echos. I'll take the bait - yes it's a perfect delay pedal. It's the best. I would love to say it was an Analog Delay or something you have to work harder to use but I can't- the echoplex sounds perfect. It's all the definition you could want in an echo without being in the way of your dry signal, it's able to get murkier and reacts to picking dynamics better than most. I love the tape warble, it gets intense and I don't need much but yes it's a perfect echo. Remind me does the tap tempo extend the delay time too?

I ran it through the front of the amp led light goes dim when not playing then when I start playing again led is full on again same thing through the effects loop not hearing any delay at first unlessI I play continuously settings medium to light delay the only way I could get to work properly was to have setup on top of amp with a one spot power supply no matter where I put it on my pedal board it didn't work right using a voodoo lab power supply 9v setting I tried the advanced settings no different any suggestions

I'm STRUGGLING right now trying to love this EP103, but the hard click switch makes a loud boom that is heard through the amp, sounds louder than my guitar playing lol. It happens maybe 1 out of 10 times i press the switch. I would keep the pedal if I was confident I could swap out the switch for a soft switch...but why should I have to do that on a brand new pedal? Anyone do this or know of a tutorial for it? thanks.

I wish the Dunlop had a tone knob in addition to the Age control. As it is, the only way to curb the top end of the repeats is to turn up the Age, which also adds a ton of noise and fizzy dirt and modulation, which I don't want. And the way that the repeats overdrive in this unit just sounds bad to me - the clipping is very digital and sizzly. The Maestro could push and add some gain, but it was because of the great preamp in the unit. It had nothing to do with the tape itself. But really, the overdrive, the wow-and-flutter, the degraded tape sound that everyone seems to like (and which still sounds to me like a tape that desperately needs to be replaced NOW).... all of these are really unintended consequences - inevitable limitations of the tape loop, and happy accidents. They're secondary to the most important thing, which, as you rightly point out, is the sound. And the delay sound of this pedal, with the age set all the way down, definitely has some of the magic of the Maestro. I love the tap tempo, I just wish it was a tiny bit more tweakable.

If you love Tape Delay it sounds waaayy better. The DD8 is a multimode delay pedal. Or, like you could say: Jack of all trades, master of none.
