Dunlop Trailmax Raid on my Norden 901 for a motorcycle camping trip through Scandinavia [S5-E9]

June 16th: Time to change tires! Not because they are worn out but because I have been fortunate to receive the support of Dunlop Nordic going forward. I will be continuing this trip riding their new Trailmax Raid 50/50 adventure tire! I continue my trip to the workshop Hanebo & Sortvik in Trondheim and visit a friend nearby before I follow the E6 further north. I spend the night camping next to Snåsavatnet.

Atleast you can get them, Noraly always has an issue even finding tires that fit. Ferrys were big when my dad was a kid, now there are bridges. But of course your bridges would have to span large areas. Thanks to Dunlap! stay safe

Cruise control is great. Did you know you can do clutchless up and down shifts on this bike too? It has what Husky call easy shift so no need for clutch except to take off and stop 😊

Hi Runa, Cruse controls is one of my most important criteria when I choose the Norden. Because when I went to north cape last year with my KTM Superduke I use it every time. The Trailmax Raid is a good one. Better tread life than the AX41 or Anakee wild, round enough that they are good on the road, but with enough voids in the tread to be good on the dirt as well. A harder compound as you would expect (with the pros and cons that entails), but a very well rounded tire that leans toward the aggressive side of ADV IMO. These are my new favorite tire.

Scandinavia is such a nice region, just saw the footage from the KTM adventure rally 2023 in Norway, amazing ! I've been to Sweden, but Norway and Finland are on my TET todo list :) After having a leak in the front tire of the E07+ from factory on my new bike ( known issue on the 2023 890r's ), I've also decided to go for the Dunlop trailmax raid. Can't wait to put them on, wet grip performance was the deciding factor for me, since Belgian weather is crap most of the year :) Have fun on your trips and thanks for sharing.

I put my plastic "puck" for under my side stand, on a piece of string. So that when I get on the bike, I pull it up by the string and roll it all up and put it into my pocket :) a Handy Tip :)

I have to acknowledge to you Runa, the last time I was anywhere near Tronheim was way back in the late 70's early 80's and we as a group did the camping tour of Norway, whilst sea trials were underway on the Oil Rig we were normaly based on in Stavanger. Beautifull countryside up there but how folks sleep in summer months is bewilderng to me as even with eye shades I found it near on impossible.

Cruise control is really nice. That one can almost be a dealbreaker 🤔 I can’t understand how you can keep count on all days, after maybe five days I starts to lose the counting. The first night mostly no problem, the second use to be ok, then number three it starts to be more difficult then after four I no longer have a clue “Good morning, today is day number five.. or was it number four.” And actually it can be number six 🤔😊.

Yeah now that I have discovered it I have used it a lot! So handy! And I can only keep track of what day it is because I mark numbers on my map, and because I make Instagram posts stating what day it is 😂 Usually have no idea what day of the week it is though!

Hi Runa, so are you back on tubeless tires now ? I recall watching your " This is what I pack" episode and you held up one tire iron for changing a flat tire and I thought you would have a real hard time popping off the tire bead with only one tire iron. Much easier to use a tubeless tire plug as you have discovered when you had a flat. You had a screw drill like T-Handle tool for reaming the hole, I have a pointed round file T-handle tool which is also very useful for reaming the hole out a bit larger and makes it a bit easier to insert the T-Handle tool with the sticky rubber strips. Then you said a bit later on you had replaced it with a tubeless tire(s). You have done a wonderful episode of more great scenery and cool commentary and perfect music. Such a pleasure to watch your videos. Well done, looking forward to the coast scenery. All the best from Australia.😃🦘

Hey there! Yes, I am back on tubeless 😊 My previouse bike was a Tenere 700 which run tubes, while my new Norden 901 have a tubeless system. I do too prefer tubeless as it is easier to fix on the roadside in case of puncture! 😊
