Dunnottar Castle (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Fhoithear, "fort on the shelving slope") is a ruined medieval fortress located upon a rocky headland on the north-east coast of Scotland, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of Stonehaven.
The surviving buildings are largely of the 15th and 16th centuries, but the site is believed to have been fortified in the Early Middle Ages.
Dunnottar has played a prominent role in the history of Scotland through to the 18th-century Jacobite risings because of its strategic location and defensive strength. Dunnottar is best known as the place where the Honours of Scotland, the Scottish crown jewels, were hidden from Oliver Cromwell's invading army in the 17th century.
The property of the Keiths from the 14th century, and the seat of the Earl Marischal, Dunnottar declined after the last Earl forfeited his titles by taking part in the Jacobite rebellion of 1715. The castle was restored in the 20th century and is now open to the public.
The ruins of the castle are spread over 1.4 hectares (3.5 acres), surrounded by steep cliffs that drop to the North Sea, 50 metres (160 ft) below. A narrow strip of land joins the headland to the mainland, along which a steep path leads up to the gatehouse. The various buildings within the castle include the 14th-century tower house as well as the 16th-century palace. Dunnottar Castle is a scheduled monument, and twelve structures on the site are listed buildings.

There have been many films based on the Shakespearean classic of Hamlet.
The 1990 version saw Dunnottar Castle used as a setting - and it’s easy to see why.
Dramatically perched on a lone hillock, with cliffs peering into the ocean, this ancient fortress was once the home of one of the most powerful families in Scotland, the Earls Marischal.

Oh i am glad to hear that you watched already few times this video. Thanks for the nice words :D :D. I always try to keep every video using the drone, steady as possible adding the right soundtrack on it and giving a final touch with some small colouring. This one i practically didnt touched much with a colouring :), 87% is the natural colours of that footage.

Many years ago do something life that it was necessary an helicopter, a pilot for the helicopter and a guy that could be filming. Now you just need a drone that delivers a great quality footage 😁. I had missed this when it came out a few weeks ago and I actually got chills with the beauty of this footage and scenic landscape! I love a show on Netflix that is about the castles in Scotland and I don't think this one was on it. It doesn't look like they allow tourists there or maybe the drone was flying overhead during a very slow day? I don't know how you can keep up with the drone so well. It has such a steady, fluid movement to it. Great job! And congratulations again!! Some day I hope to see the land of my people in Ireland and Scotland. Ok, maybe my red hair and fair skin WISHES for those places to be the land of my people since I'm actually in America, but still. I love the footage I'm seeing from channels like yours. I am so glad you enjoyed this footage, is much more to come soon hopefully, just been in a middle of exams and that have been taking so much time from me to be honest. Is a beautiful castle Dunnottar and there is people allowed but i only could had permission to film with the drone while is no one there, after it closes thats why :D :D :). The drone is very steady yes, and always try to make it smooth as possible, is hard to control many movements in the same time with the remote but not impossible, just needs some practice :). I wanna film something in Ireland maybe this year when going to visit my partner parents in Cork. Never been in Ireland and i looking forward to see it :). Thank you once again Sparkle by Monica :)

I love castles too, here in Scotland is soooo many that i lost already the counting aha. In Portugal we have castles as well, but not so many as here in Scotland. Oh wow i didnt know that, so you are very familiarised with Scotland then specially if you visited many castles over here. I know that castle where the filmed Highlander, is a beautiful one but i have not been inside yet, i know is silly but one the way to Isla of Skye i did stopped there with my girlfriend and i took some pictures but we didn't went inside. Was very windy in that day... I have been in that one the Urquhart Castle, beautifulll, all the north of Scotland is simply amazing and beautiful. Soon i might make another video where they were shooting the last Transformers movie up to Isla of Skye on the famous mountains Old Man of Storr. Do you know them? Hello Allen Oxendine, thanks for coming by to my channel. Oh do you? Mavic Pro is a nice drone as well, this one is a Phantom 4 Pro, it takes some time to learn properly and specially when you need to do some slow moves but in the same time moving the camera up and down or left and right. My second flight i crashed my drone :(.... was a nightmare lol. Sure i will check out your channel my friend, thanks for your support :) #IAmACreator
