Jordan averaged over 37 on nothing but 2's in the late 80's so yea, I think most people accept he could average 40+ a night. In the playoffs, MJ averaged over 40+ppg in a series on 5 different occasions and 39 in a series on a 6th occasion. In a Finals series he averaged 41.0ppg. Jordan was the ultimate weapon.

How does the host in the white shirt not be somewhat prepared, at least know that Jordan averaged 37+ points during a season, and be able to make a small leap and say "Jordan can probably average 40"?!?

He also did on less than 1 3 attempt per game lol like how gonna average 35+ without attempting a single 3 lmao he did that when the bulls weren't as playoff team 30-52 record put that 86 Jordan on the rockets the worst team in the nba rn and he attempts at least 3 3s a game & makes 1 that's already 40 points a game and ik he'd be getting to the ft a lot more so 45 points wouldn't be hard tbh

With more 3s, less bigs downlow, more spacing, less physical, no handchecking, faster paced, more possessions and more foul calls ..Jordan would easily average 45 points a game! And he'd also be the best defender in today's NBA

Kobe’s mvp year was Jordan’s rookie year stats. 🤷‍♂️ Logic can really explain how much Jordan would score in today’s league. 10 scoring titles!!! That’s reason 1 Reason 2: He average at best 37.1 in an era with hand check and clothes line 🤷‍♂️ … he shot mostly mid range, attacked the rim and none of these 3 point bs I swear these emotional questions

Did you know that Michael Jordan is the only player in NBA history to win the NBA's scoring title, regular-season MVP, the NBA championship, Finals MVP, and make an NBA All-Defensive team in the same season? On top of that, he was able to achieve this in 4 different seasons; 1990-91, 1991-92, 1995-96, and 1997-98. He would have achieved it 6 times, but the NBA awarded the MVP to Charles Barkley in 1993, and to Karl Malone in 1997. If Jordan had won MVP in those years, he would have had 6 seasons where he accomplished each of these milestones. I’d rather be like MJ than LBJ! Efficiency + Consistency = MJ Longevity + Fluke = LBJ

for all those Bron fans that still don't get it and don't realize just how DOMINANT Michael Jordan was on the court back in the day when DEFENSE was a lot rougher, tougher, and more physical than today's game...Michael Jordan scored 49 pts (Gm 1) and 63 pts (Gm 2) against the '86 Boston Celtics (one of the Best Teams in NBA history!), then MJ scored 69 pts against the '89 Cleveland Cavaliers (5th Best Defense that season), and MJ averaged 41 pts/game in the '93 Finals against Charles Barkley ('93 Reg. Season MVP)...and don't forget, MJ as a Washington Wizard (age 38-40) scored 40+ pts and 50+ pts multiple times against some of the best players in the league in 2001-2003!! He's the ONLY player in NBA history to do that at that age...(yes, Michael Jordan played ALL 82 games at age 39/40...He was a competition nut job who thrived on winning and beating whoever stood in his way....with today's NBA rules, Jordan would have more pts. per game, more free-throw attempts per game, and on and on and on...His career avg for free-throws is over 83%, and shooting percentage was about 50% (42% at age 40)....wake up and smell the reality check falling from above...because it's Michael 'Air" Jordan dropping at least 40-50 pts per game with his level of artistry, style, fundamentals, creativity, clutchness, mental toughness, and offensive & defensive skills/talent/abilities....just saying...

People keep talking about 3’s when they should be talking about free throws. Jordan would double his FT attempts that alone would get him to 40 ppg. He averaged 37.1 ppg in 1987 shooting less than 1 3-pointer per game. People don’t understand that the league created the Illegal Offense foul because of MJ, his first step was unstoppable and he was basically unstoppable one on one. The little brother says things that make him sound uninformed about basketball, I mean this man is questioning the Spree jersey, I mean seriously????? The older brother hit the nail on the head and he’s the first young KZbinr I’ve heard say it, when people told Jordan he couldn’t do something or what his game lacked he responded to their challenges. 1987 he averaged 37.1 and they said that all he cared about was scoring, so in 1988 he won DPOY, MVP, Slam-dunk contest, NBA scoring title, led the league in steals & All-Star game MVP. Good looking out young sir, you informed yourself before opening your mouth and your words will age well. There is no debate between Michael Jeffrey Jordan and Leflop James point blank period.

He might not average 40 a career but in the playoffs the dude was basically averaging 37 his first 6 years. What people don't realize is that Jordan was way way better in the playoffs than he was in the regular season. in addition, Michael Jordan scored 35 pts in the 1st Half of the '92 NBA Finals against Clyde Drexler's Portland Trailblazers. There's some video about a player who scored 37 pts against MJ and The Bulls one night and was talking trash to MJ as the game ended...so the next time they played each other, MJ scored 36 pts in the 1st half just to prove a point that MJ was far superior on the court....Michael Jordan will score whatever he feels like scoring, whether it's game 1 or game 82, the playoffs or the championship...He's always been a true warrior and fierce competitor. Jordan has admitted he made that story up about the player actually talking shit. Yet, it kind of proves Jordans borderline insanity because he did tell his teammates that the guy said even though he didn't. Now Jordan had to respond and live up to his own narrative. Then he did, he created his own motivation!

The reverence from hall-of-famers and current players Black Jesus receives is like no other athlete I have ever seen. I witnessed prime Mike in person, every time he'd come to LA to face Clippers, and the things my 20/20 vision saw were Marv Albert spectacular. I've also seen how today's game is soft as the wings on Always maxi pads. No pitbulls guarding perimeter. No rottweilers foaming at the mouth waiting for someone to trespass. No mastiffs protecting the rim. Jordan would average 8 more points than his highest average, which was 37 pts. He'd get 45 a night. He'd get a couple more threes per game and a few more free-throws per game, since only way to try to stop him would be to foul him. And since today's defenders' defensive fundamentals are atrocious, he'd definitely be getting more touch fouls.

Hell yes! The only way you can keep MJ from scoring or avg. 40 is by not pissing him off. The best story I have heard about MJ. There was some young guy puffing up his chest against MJ one night. MJ looked at the guy and said "who's shoe are you wearing". The guy was sporting the Jordans. I can't remember who the guy was. This was so funny to watch. MJ is the best and Larry Legend is second. Nice one.

MJ would avg 45+ pts in today's league for sure! More possessions equals more opportunities (+4 pts minimum)... More free throws coz of the rules (+3 pts minimum)... More dunks coz he would get to the rim more coz of the open lanes (+4 pts minimum)... And yes he would hit more 3's coz he would take more (+3 pts minimum)... You take when Jordan was at Chicago & he avg basically 32+ pts/game & add what I just pointed out above & it puts him at 46 pts/game minimum)!

Practicality. That is the best word to describe MJ's game. His basketball IQ was through the roof and it showed every time he was on the court. MJ understood the game of basketball and how it was meant to be played the best. Mid range, base line and foul shooting (which made sense because very few could stop him without fouling him). These three foundational elements coupled with his finesse, court awareness and occasional 3 ball made him an expert from everywhere on the court. Low risk, high reward was the bulk of his gameplay, he took shots that he knew he could make, understood how to create space and had very little wasted movement on or off the ball. He was also adaptable and could rise to challenges that were given to him. MJ lived basketball just like Bruce Lee lived fighting. I'm not taking anything away from LeBron James. LeBron is a talented player, but there is no comparison, especially when MJ has other legends that recognize him as legendary? Plus there is a humbleness about him that LeBron doesn't have. This is what makes a legend truly legendary, they don't have to say it but everyone recognizes it.

Jordan, in todays game, would average whatever he wanted. If he wanted to prove a point or settle a grudge he'll put up 60 in a game. He averaged upper 30's before he got other scorers around him. He averaged well into the 30's in a time where he could get rock bottomed for going to the rim. An average in the 30's where if a team scored 100 in a night it was a miracle. An average well into the 30's while being double teamed and hand checked. He could most definitely put up whatever he wanted to in todays era.

All that I can say is that the Pistons had to come up with rules to try to stop him ( the Jordan Rules). No team tries to do that with Lebron. Plus, if anyone excels at a give sport or art, people will say that " he or she is the Michael Jordan " of that particular sport or art.

MJ would average whatever he wanted to. If he wanted 40, he’d get it. He imposed his will sooner or later, as Roy Williams said, “Mike was the only guy who could turn it on and turn it off…and he never fricken turned it off…” Excellent reaction video guys, intelligent discussion, correct stats, and an open-minded perspective.

Listen, if Jordan was in today's NBA he would MAKE HIMSELF into the baddest three point shooter the game's ever seen if that's what he felt he needed to do. Just look at the absolute MONSTER numbers he averaged when the Bulls asked him to play point guard for a quarter of a season. Dude averaged a triple double with over 30 ppg. You knew that if Mike had wanted to, he'd have been the best PG of all time. Like Mark Jackson said, he would average what ever he wanted to average and do whatever he wants to do. Jordan averaged over 30 a game in the fast break, high scoring 80s and HAD BASICALLY THE SAME AVERAGES playing in the defensive 90s era. MJ was a basketball god and even the other stars in the league were just mere mortals to him. There is NO ONE like him but you can only TRULY know that if you watched him play night in and night out. Clips just don't do him justice. Go watch whole games. Even the year he came back with the Wizards, in the 20 games before the knee injury, he was averaging 26 points a game. In the TEN games before the injury he was averaging NEARLY 30 POINTS A GAME - AS AN OLD MAN!!!!!! While being guarded by youngins like Vince Carter, McGrady, Grant Hill etc night in and night out. So imagine what he would have done to those dudes in his prime....As far as what he would average - YOU ARE TRIPPING if you think Harden is going to average more than Jordan when Jordan averaged THIRTY SEVEN in his highest scoring year in a much tougher league. I'm going to say between 37 and 45 points. With the spacing now and the fact that you can't even look at a dude the wrong way without getting a foul. Jordan's FG percentage would be higher and you add in 3 to 4 threes made a game and he can easily get to 45. Let's not forget that he had multiple playoff series where he averaged over 40. He averaged 41 in the 93 Finals against Sir Charles's Suns. So in THIS era? Yeah, he could do 40 EASILY. Next vid y'all should react to that Jordan's Underrated Years with the Wizards video on KZbin. Go look at his stats as an OLD MAN and no one ever did it better at that age of 39-40.

Great comment brothas. For my two cents..... now hear me out..... I seriously started watching ball from about 1981 and watched it pretty heavy all the way to about 2 years ago when my nephews and niece got out of the sport. I'm an old school Jordan and NBA head through and through and I'll throw it out there that Bron would've most likely averaged about 28.5 ppg. I bet he could have pulled in between 11 and 13 rbs per game in that era. Don't wanna Hazzard a guess about how many steals or blocks he might have had, and assists are tricky for me to guesstimate because any fool knows teams would be keying on him. The question then comes..... does he pass to give opportunity for others to assist or not. The Jordan side of this argument is so much easier....... just roll the tape...... and there is your answer. If the league doesn't adjust to get tougher if Mike plays, then just bring body bags and designated 3 players whose only purpose is to collect all 18 fouls. Seriously though, Mike will dominate and murder any era he's, and if all a team does is run defenders at him he either racks up averages triple doubles, or rakes in double/doubles in points (and likely assists and steals, but coud easily be in other categories with no team really employing a true center). I'd guesstimate a healthy Jordan (think 92 to 93 or 97 to 98) to average 34.5 ppg, 10.0 asst, 9.5 rbs, and 2.5 steals under current rules. I also expect him to take anywhere from 15 to 30 foul shots per game (making 80% of those as he has done his entire career)..... so yes, Michael will still dominate if he were to play I today's NBA. LeBron can be elite in any area he's in as well. That should answer all the questions on this topic. EDIT: If I could only pick 1 and the choice was bring 1996-1999 Michael to the Future to play under current rules or pick 2016-2018 James back to play the whole NBA and Bad Boy Pistons from the 1990s, and the hardcore pacers and Knicks, and even the rockets, suns, and cavs in the mid 1990s...... Jordan still dominates and LeBron loses points since the older competition played such tougher opponents league wide. AND!! AND!! there were no superteams outside of fkn Allstars Weekend, which is how it should be. The competition would have been 10 times tougher taking LeBron back to face it as opposed to pulling Michael forward to play in it. That isn't even a contest, it's a slaughter!

The question about averaging 40 per night.. consider his best was 37.1 if i remember right, with hand checking.. todays defenses playing back leaving an open lane to the basket. Like he needed the opening to get there before. And no thought of getting hit on the way.. oh hell.. they might as well lay out the red carpet

45 a night no doubt, he would play all 82 every year, DPOY, league MVP, FInals MVP, and as many rings as he has fingers. in the HYPER physical age he played in, he pulled off being the GOAT and setting still unattainable standards. In todays soft league, he would be hanging 40-60 a night, 3-4 blocks, 3-5 steals, and probably 10-14 rebounds. He would average a triple double for the season almost every year I bet.

he would average between 40 and 45. His shots within 3 feet would approach 80% in today's league. His midrange jumper would average 55% to 60% and he would average 40% from the 3-point line. Plus his free throw % is way better than Lebron's. Plus the killer attitude. He would dominate easily. Time to admit it. He would have had 8 straight championships if his dad had not been murdered. C'mon. Just finally admit it. Doesn't make less of a man to say "I was wrong." Great show guys. Thanks.

He actually averaged 40 in a playoff series. That would be easy in today's game. Without being able to misdirect him, bump him off his spots, hand check him, hold him, etc... it would be impossible to guard him. He could average 50. He only shot 1.5 three pointers a game. With that being said. He and Lebron shoot almost the same percentage from three and Lebron shoots twice as many. Michael gave 40 to 50 balls to everyone from Elo, Dumars, and Denise Johnson to Drexler, Vince Carter, and T-Mac. He played against teams comprised of grown men. A guy like Rodman is the size of Lebron and a better defender. Even with the muscle behind Dennis. They couldn't stop Jordan from averaging 30 to 35. Jordan got stronger and made a man out of Pippen by sticking up for him. Fighting his battles on the court for him. Jordan built his championship team around his own mental strength. He was like every big brother that picked on the little brother. But wouldn't let anyone else pick on the little brother without seeing him. Lebron was bailed out by Kyrie. Plus, Wade had won without him. Pippen never carried Jordan or did anything without Jordan. Lebron dominates a league of guys that should be in college. Lebron couldn't guard Jason Terry. Which is why they lost the finals to Dallas. Plus, the Warriors put Andre Iguodala on him because he has grown strength from a man from a more physical era. Which is what gave Lebron problems against the Warriors. Kill the GOAT debate.

MJ average 40s in playoffs so easily yes he can average 40 in today’s games. MJ was not a ball hugger imagine if he intentionally do it every night, Phil Jackson just talk shit to MJ not making enough points and then MJ will create something in his mind and do it easily. And what makes MJ have the license to keep shooting if he wants and not to offend his teammates because there’s no one works harder than him in the defensive side.

Demar Derozan (who has the same 3pt attempt and 3pt% as jordan back then) is averaging 27 ppg in today's 3pt shooting era. And i can argue that jordan is the better midrange shooter, better slasher, more athletic, more aggressive, and has more moves that demar derozan. And the spacing right now is so different back then. 4s and 5s are getting pulled out from the paint to guard 3pt shooters. Some teams play small ball occasionaly. Imagine jordan in today's league with less shotblockers in the paint. And without hand checking? So yes, he can average 40 ppg easily.

MJ would be so dominate that the league would have to change rules to contain him. 50+ per game is conservative. And you if you think these current players would get away with traveling and double dribbling with MJ around? Are you kidding me? Today's NBA would be dramatically different with a fundamentals player like the GoaT. The swath of mental destruction and sheer dominance he would leave in his wake would be both terrifying and tremendous.

there is actually a video that does a small breakdown but yes. The faster pace, greater number of foul calls, less options on defense. Absolutely he would average 40. When the pace was higher in 88 he averaged 37 ppg. As pace of the game went down and fewer possessions happened points went down, the pace at the time this guy is talking was at an all time high since wilt's days so you would see a similar rise in Jordan. With more 3's, which Jordan shot average for his era, easier time getting to the rim, no hand checking, and at the time the video was made still having these "non-basketball" non-sense fouls they just got rid of. yes with his 83% free throw percentage absolutely. He would have doubled the amount of times he was sent to the line and with only 3 points off of 40 ppg that would be all he needed. He wouldn't even need extra 3 point attempts and makes to push him over. If you need more proof. Check Jordan's Points per 100 Possessions, 40.4 with the bulls it was 41.5 points per 100 possessions. The games over the last 5 years averaged over 100 possessions per game. Also when they removed hand checking scoring went up by about 10% across the board. So 41.5 points per 100 possessions while getting more than 100 possessions per game brings him to 41.5 already +10% increase from lack of hand checking and we get our answer around 45 points per game. Hope this helped. Edit: I think the funny thing is I think he may have given META 40 at 40 years old. I think he said at one point he has had Jordan and Kobe and Lebron drop 40 on him, but Jordan is the only one that ever did that as an aging 40 year old with injuries. He believes Jordan would be the only player that could have dropped 50 on him if he played him when he was young and healthy.
