This is a lovely vintage melody! I listen to piano rolls every day and this is one of my favorite!

I particularly like the arranging and the hand-played natural swing.

Pre-WWI Webers were THE finest pianos made.. bar NONE! no wonder this sounds so great, it's a Weber!

Nice sounding Weber, excellent expression from the DA. It always nice to hear a well tuned piano

there's NOTHING like the sound of a Weber piano!! I had a Weber upright made in 1888, was the greatest piano I owned, until I fell on hard times and had to sell it.. I miss it every damn day

One of the favorites of Julius Carl Jr. Laemmle, scion of Universal Pictures president Carl Laemmle. Jr. brought into being one of the first color motion pictures to usher in the great age of jazz, with his Paul Whiteman, King of Jazz in 1930.

A friend of mine has a George Steck Duo-Art that I adore. The controls on this piano are the same as that one. Steinway, I have noticed, has a different interface.
@TheBill33334 жыл бұрын
Duo-Art system records the dynamics and pedal data but I don't hear much change in the recording. Some video cameras automatically compress the loud passages which help clarity by avoiding tape saturation in the old days. Great tune, good to hear it again.

I agree that the expression isn't very obvious but you can tell that the snake bite holes are accenting the main melody a bit. I love this recording the best out of all the duo-art rolls I've heard.

I'm hearing the dynamics pretty well in this. They're subtle and mostly in a mezzo range but there are a bunch of them and I hear them coming through well.

What happens if u play a duo art roll on a welte, or an ampico roll on a duo art. Like does stuff change or is it the sane
@rowanbelt361210 ай бұрын
I would expect that you would get a bunch of messed up dynamics, because the coding system is quite different but uses the same perforations at the end of the rolls. So basically the dynamics would be changing erratically because the system would be reacting to codings not written in its “language” so to speak.

I think that it's DeSylva, not DeSylvia.

Steinway should go hide their trash in a nuclear fallout dump because THIS is what a grand piano should sound like!
