Hello, So for your first question, It is ideal if your room is empty during the entire duration of test. If you are not able to find the empty room for yourself, Make sure that there are no movement behind you and also that there are no sounds in the background during the test. I don't think the scores you get on the mock test will be the same on the real exams, you must be aware that evaluations on the mock test are just automatic but the evaluation on the real test are going to be very complex.

Hello, Practice test score cannot be corelated to score on certified test. Practice tests are just meant to give students feel about how the actual test will be and what should they expect. Score on certified test completely depends on your ability to answer all the question types.

Hello, So, the practice test score of 125-135 is a good score. In order to go a level more to achieve 145, you'll need to have fluency in your speaking with addition of some complex statements. Both writing and speaking answer should have less grammatical mistakes and wide variety of vocabulary. Less repetition and more synonyms will definitely add to your score. Try incorporating above in your practice test answers.

@@Rose-fc2qw So, firstly, one thing to point out here is that your score doesn't just depend on one module completely. Even if my describe the image answer was short in comparison to what you wrote but there can be situation where I might have performed better in other sections and hence the score. Secondly, writing or speaking more isn't the key of Duolingo English Test. You need to make sure that there are few mistakes leading which you can get good score. Lastly, one question to you would be. If you've got 6.5 in IELTS, then is there any specific reason you are appearing for DET again?

Hello, It's really hard to say if you'll get chance back to rejoin the test. Most of the students who faced these issues of power outage or connection issues, had to repurchase the test to appear again. The reason behind this was because the issue was from your side and not DET. Conversely, if there is some technical issue from DET's side, then they allow you to give test one more time with repurchasing it.

Hello, So DET's scoring criteria includes use of proper punctuation. So, in my understanding, you could lose marks in case your answers are written in all capital letters. That being said, I would strongly suggest you reach out to their support team to get exact answer for your question. Hello, I am sorry to hear about your invalidation. There should be something that's causing them to invalidate your test using this reason. Are you looking outside of screen during mid-section time? (i.e the few seconds when test switches from reading to writing). Remember, you are not supposed to look outside the screen for the 1 hour of test. While typing, you can look at your keyboard and type, however I always advice to keep checking your screen during typing as well to make sure that your eyes are on screen. Lastly, check your camera's quality and lighting in your room. There is a possibility that they are not able to see your eyes properly and hence judging based on that. Hello, 115 is a good score. Your individual sub scores suggest that you are good in all the sections, however, to improve your score beyond 115, you'll have to make sure that you are making less errors. Check for small issues like punctuation and spellings. Check for your pronunciation. If you correct these mistakes, I think it will edge up your score to 120 and beyond Hope that helps.

My camera is my laptop's built in one. and the light on the top of the room is just so that my face is visible to the DET team. This is the rule and not complying to this can lead to invalidation. Nope, the real test has bit different questions rather than practice test and there a bit harder too. But, there is nothing to panic as the questions you get are not too hard to answer. All we need to do a little bit practice.

In Listening part, questions are much longer than practice test, other types of questions are nearly the same

The DET is an adaptive test. That means if you got a difficult question and you are unable to answer them, then the next question will be easier. And conversely, if the test is easier in start and you are able to answer comfortably, then the difficulty level increases gradually. Score of 120 in practice test is good. But it is hard to judge the score of actual test based on your practice test.

@@13.pyara.cartoon from the reason they provided, I don't think antivirus should cause an issue. But just to be on safe side, it is better to uninstall it for the test and reinstall it later. Another suggestion from my side is that talk with their support team and try to understand more about why this reason was provided. You'll have to remember, that DET is an online exam and hence they have a very high standard for maintaining their strict policy. Doing such action can cause you a permanent ban from appearing the DET exams in future. That being said, I believe with good amount of practice, anyone can achieve the score that they desire, and I would strongly recommend you go through the test pattern to understand each question type and watch my question specific videos to understand how you can achieve high scores in each of them. Hello, I know for sure that Duolingo English Test is not a scam and there are many students who are able to get certified. I also know that at times the rules are really hard to comply and may lead to Invalidation. In your case I am not sure what exactly is the situation. But they have mentioned very clearly that it is okay to use external mouse and keyboard. The only thing they warned about is switching between then. Meaning that you should not use the laptop's keyboard or mouse if you have an external keyboard and mouse attached. In case of external keyboard and mouse, Things become more serious as any kind of suspicious activity is thought of as someone else is typing or clicking on your behalf. Since it has already happened with you, I would suggest you make new account and try to use some other computer with functional keyboard and mouse.
