Streams like this are good motivators for learning languages, even if Duolingo is a bit iffy. Fell out of learning Japanese a while back due to work and other obligations and couldn't get back into it. I think it's finally time to start once again, thanks for that! Thanks for the stream!

38:05 her crisis over understanding that Fukuro means "owl", but not that it also means "bag" is great :D フクロウ (Fukurou) = Owl. Can rarely also be written with the kanji 梟, but it's usually in Katakana. It's one of those rarely used kanji you don't have to know. 袋 (Fukuro) = Bag. Also often appears in the word for "gloves" 手袋 (Tebukuro). And yes, this is why Mumei has a paper bag friend!

Yesterday, I found my old Japanese textbook and note to review and prepare for this stream. Kronii speaking Japanese for two hours is so cool. Her cheers when she knows she's right and it tells her she's right are so heart lifting. The best way to get better is to practice. I've been slaking a bit since I found out I need to learn katakana and hiragana before continuing with my kanji lessons (wanikani). I used to know one kanji, that was Mori, or forest. With what I have learned, I found out kanji is an idea, while kata and hira are sounds. When you put three of the kanji tree (木) together, one on top and two on bottom, you have many trees, making a forest (森). I didn't know that before starting. So, with enough logic around it, you can figure out what kanji means by figuring out which ideas are in play. But the sounds make up words, and I know how hard the English language is. I know I should get back to it...
