Farmer here. My father was a farmer, his before him, and so on. The farming industry today is extremely competitive. However, God has continually blessed my family through it. I will give you an idea of what is required. I have a wife and four children. To provide for my family every year I bring 600,000 chickens to market. That equates to about 4.5 million lbs. I enjoy what I do, but it is not something one can just jump into. I will not give you my tax return, but I will say that my income would not support many people’s way of life. I’m firmly convinced that everyone should try their hand at farming, no matter the scale. It is most rewarding.

Awesome change of topic. I mean everything in life is theology but it’s cool to have something like this that will help the church going forward. Can’t wait to hear the conversation.

Jesus was a carpenter, and a proud blue collar craftsman. And as country singer Aaron Tippin sang, Jesus "had a working man's PHD".

@@foghornleghorn262 agreed. Not only He was a tradesman, but he also did not use His diety to accomplish His own tasks but used only His limited mortal flesh to toil by the sweat of His brow when that was a punishment handed down to us. Not everyone is called to be a carpenter, but everyone is supposed to work a trade or profession. Unemployment is neither a trade nor a profession.

Hello, it's me, the Marxist brother. First off, thank you for the kind words. That was a very charitable description of my life as a cobbler. However Marx didn't say he wanted to dethrone God. That's just a myth. He was somewhat sympathetic to religion. Everyone knows he said that it's the "opium of the people", but most folks don't know the rest of that paragraph where he says that religion is "the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of our soulless conditions." He also didn't want to destroy capitalism in his lifetime. In fact he's pretty clear that the transition to socialism would take a really long time. Lastly, a lot of what your guest is saying is classic anarchist thought. Proudhon, Kroptkin, et al. And, for what it's worth, the idea of the family unit being the primary mode of production in a pre-capitalist society comes from none other than Marx's best friend, Friedrich Engels in his "Origins of the Family." Happy to come on the show to discuss Marx anytime. Love you bro!

Thanks for the clarification, Daniel! I tried to do my best to be as charitable as possible towards you and your position. As you well know, we both vehemently disagree with each other, but our conversations over the years have been really good for me. It’s sharpened me in my views and forced me to think seriously. Honestly, what I’d like to eventually do is set up some kind of debate. I just need to find a worthy opponent for you. Maybe I could get your favorite pastor, Doug Wilson, to enter the fray. 😉

Capitalism is good, but that’s not what we have anymore…Thanks to peeps like Rockefeller in the 20’s, it was transformed into monopolistic capitalism. Name 1 single potentially profitable industry or endeavor that’s not dominated by BIG whomever…I’ll wait 😂 This is why I liked when he said don’t plan on replacing an income we may be used to, do it for sufficiency sake.
@RightResponseMinistries2 жыл бұрын

I see big government and mega-corporatism as similar threats. Both are capable of tyranny by mandating everything from vaccinations to woke "diversity" training. With the stroke of a pen a government or mega-corporatism can eliminate thousands of jobs. I know.... it's happened to me several times!
@randalljenkins748 Жыл бұрын
Monopolistic, state-subsidized and protected capitalism is indeed a problem in our day, and used to be called 'fascism' back in the '40's. But I don't see this as the biggest problem with capitalism today. That would be the explosion of paper-money freed from any objective value (gold and silver, historically) and also the spiraling debt, usury and inflation that financial system makes inevetible. Inflation is denounced as theft, usury is denounced as theft and oppression and debt is denounced as slavery, in the Bible. And yet, no 'Christian' nation today has an economy free of the curse of false weights and measures, which is the essence of fiat currency. And THIS has become the economic 'air' we all breathe, and it permeates all economic activity, in supposedly 'free' Christian countries. It is baked into the economic cake of capitalism, and that my friends is the MAIN issue with capitalism today.
