Im getting close to closing out this saga after 6 previous attempts, I am still as baffled as ever about what i am doing wrong with this 'bird'. Maybe it requires a skill set a bit beyond me , or maybe i just got a bit of a dud.
As I understand it previous versions did not have adjustable blades/ailerons relying exclusively on rudder to execute turns. This simpler setup might suit some pilots who are less experienced with autogyros. Either way Please keep letting me know what your experience has been with this G2

This plane is a pain! I've been flying for over 40 years. I first one I had crashed in an unexplainable manner, I thought "bad plane" so I got another and after a few flights it crashed too. G2 came along so I gave it a try. It was my forth flight went it went into that unrecoverable slide slip. What a shame, it looks nice when its flying right.

I’m really sorry that you’ve had such a bad time - but It’s so reassuring to hear that I’m not the only guy getting frustrated. It’s so hard to understand ,Of course we all get that it must be flown gently But we see videos where some guys can throw the thing around the sky without having the same issues 😮

Dangit. Not again. I don’t see any aileron correction to try to level it out. Since I can’t see the rudder I can’t tell how it’s getting into that bank. It’s a mystery

It sure is a mystery to me too. 🤬

I was actually applying full opposite aileron but it looks like the servo didn’t respond until after the crash when you hear the clicking sound followed by the movement of the servo afterward

As I mentioned to you before ( I believe you were the one with the "training wheels") - you need to practice "flat turns" with a/gyros. Initiate your turn with rudder and then add OPPOSITE aileron to keep the aircraft fairly level. With some speed you can successfully make some high banked turns but it takes practice. My advice - 1) slow down 2) keep it closer for better orientation 3) make flat turns I have a couple dozen flawless flights on my AutoG2-V2 and you can too.

Sincere thanks for that advice , In particular applying opposite aileron turns- that makes so much sense 👍Ok

Spot on. Read this after adding my own comment. Banked excessively and lost lift unfortunately.

That's unlucky. I couldn't see any corrective roll input. It could be a servo issue under load? A good check is to turn the model on and hold by the rotor head. When you apply any roll input the fuselage should move from side to side. If the servos stall in this situation Id look at replacing them My autogyros around that size use metal geared servos with about 4.5kg of stall torque.

That a great idea - thanks. Or makes allot of sense that the servos get over powered

Have you checked if the rotor wheel runs free? In my exemplar it was not and I had to free the wheel. If not the main rotor does not provide the necessary lift.

Yup, it’s nice and free moving

It looks to me as though the head (aileron) servos are not moving once you are in flight. Have you done a range test with the motor running? If you have not switched the pre spin motor off in flight straight away, the Brushed spin up motor/esc can cause radio interference too. This could account for it all working on the ground but no range in the air.

I think you maybe right about the servos, I just don’t know why 😢 I turn off the brushed motor just before flight to minimise things to do while in the air

@@rcpilots1291 The clicking noise sounds like it's a servo issue then. If you are going to rebuild it I would invest in some decent metal geared servos. Best of luck.

Watched the first attempt and I think you used too much aileron. Rudder needs to be the primary means of turning with only very small aileron input. You looked to be banking almost past 30 degrees and lose huge amount of lift because of that. The turns need to be kept a lot flatter. When turning with rudder you sometimes need to use opposite aileron to keep the turn flat. Sorry to see this happen though.

I really appreciate your help, thanks. I agree with what seems to have happened but would you believe I had the aileron rates turned way down to almost negligible amounts and I was trying to keep the turns flat, but it’s almost as if the aircraft had different ideas ( lol) I wonder if the retaining clamp at the head is too loose and shows far too much ‘play’ thereby exaggerating any stick input ???

Balancing the assembled head with the blades is very important. If not done that can cause problems. Good video on Motion RC to do that. Hope you have better luck in the future buddy.
