Very informative video! I have a Tundra myself and I just can't get over it how slow it is on full throttle on 3s. Already suspecting something is wrong. If it isn't fully charged (3s 2700 Zippy compact) it won't pull out of a hover. Will swapping the power leads between the ESC and motor help? Before I knew it had a reverse function I changed the factory-set ESC-motor order, because It would spin backwards out of the box. Then, after assigning a switch of my Turnigy transmitter to a throttle hold, I again changed the wiring pattern, because again it would spin backwards. I am totally confused by now. Could timing be a reason why it flies so slow, because timing is different for forward and reverse rotation?

Hi, can you please explain what you mean by "You need an extra (prop) center ring" for fitting the spinner you recommended?

Hey Buddy. Great video. I will eventually upgrade my Power combo. The question I have is that I just ordered the Green and Silver Tundra V2 which supposedly has the EPO Foam wheels like yours. What is your opinion on those wheels. I hear they're lighter and land better than the Spongy Foam ones. Can you give me your opinion on those wheels please. Am I going to have to replace them. Let me know please THANKS.
@JustaPoke2 жыл бұрын
The EPO wheels are fine, you can try some rubber wheels (like KAVAN) but you will have to keep the weight low. I'm not familiar with the new version Tundra so I don't know if the wheels are same weight as the old version. I still just use the EPO, have Kavan tires on all my bigger planes. Not sure either if the Kavan's are still available. Good luck on your research!

@@JustaPoke Good to hear that you like the EPO wheels. Hopefully the one I order has them.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the Tundra yesterday and had already decided to upgrade the motor before I watched your video so your video has justified my decision. However, in Australia, HK doesn't appear to have the SK3- 3542- 1000kv in stock so I'm opting for the 800kv which they do have in stock and couple it with a 60AMP plush ESC (If it will fit) and will run 4S batteries. Hope I'm making the correct decision??
@JustaPoke9 жыл бұрын
+Sean Kelly I notist a few days ago the SK3- 3542- 1000kv has also disappeared from the International Warehouse, EU had them in stock so I ordered a spare. I'm afraid they get replaced with the newer SK3 versions that I don't like at all. (they don't have a bolt-on adapter). The 800kV will work I think, but it has a lower Watt rating 625 versus 670W. Max Amp is rated at 42A so I would rather use the 50A Hobbywing Platinum V3 to save the extra 11gram weight. Still the Plush 60 is a good ESC, they match with SK3's and it will fit. I would use 1600 or maximum 1800mAh 4S as you don't want to add a ton of weight. Do a Amp / Watts reading to check on the right prop size. Good luck and happy landings!

could you please tell me the part numbers I should use to put a spinner on my stock motor?
@ProMayvn8 жыл бұрын
Had you removed this once before you took the video? When you removed it your bullet connectors to the ESC were came through the main engine hole, whereas when i just took mine apart, the connectors went through the bottom hole below the motor mount... which is correct?
@ProMayvn8 жыл бұрын
WELP, im assuming your way is correct and mine came wrong from the factory. Upon further inspection, the connector cables between the motor and the bullets were completely rubbed off from touching the motor, leaving wire exposed. Repair that now, motor worked last i tried, i hope it hasn't shorted out.
@JustaPoke8 жыл бұрын
Good eyes that you notist it. Yeah I did remove the motor before I even build the plane, as I wanted to measure it. So I installed it again, did the maiden on stock, and after that made this video on the upgrade. From factory my wires also went through the bottom hole. I like it better this way, but sure always be carefull with wires. Most time I use some hotgleu after routing motor wires. Happy landings!

Why dont hobbyking just put the bigger motor and prop plate with cover to begin with? it looks really sharp with that retro fit. Good video upload...
@JustaPoke8 жыл бұрын
+InTheFleshInc Thanks mate! The stock motor aint that bad, but they sure could had included a spinner. But like with all these rc planes, I think it's hard to find a model / brand that has an overpowered setup as stock.. Cheers!
@yucannthahvitt8 жыл бұрын
It doesn't need a bigger motor out of the box to be honest, you can hang the thing on the prop with the stock motor and prop.
@inthikamhaniffa92248 жыл бұрын
hi there, which spinner is compatible with stock motor/adapter? thanks in advance :)
@JustaPoke8 жыл бұрын
+inthikam haniffa The stock adapter is very short, so without modification an aluminium spinner will not fit. On stock I think this will just fit: www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__22458__Nylon_Spinner_with_Alloy_Backplate_38mm_Black.html

Okay, you put a new motor on. What about the prop? The same one? Props are a vital component and no mention about it. In fact, no mention about anything. Commentary would be very helpful. And no video showing how it performs. How do I know it performs better than the stock motor?
@JustaPoke8 жыл бұрын
Did you watch the complete video, and did you read the info that is posted in the comment box? There's no better way than to use a thrust stand and read measurements with a watt meter.. and that is what I did. Yes I used the stock prop as I like it, and the 12x6 size works well on both motors. Flight video can be seen in the other parts. Cheers!

According to the data on HobbyKing ( goo.gl/4gfseH ) that motor draws up to 49A leaving little margin with a 50A ESC. They recommend a 60A ESC. Though if you stick with 3S batteries that very nice ESC you are using should suffice. Not sure that the average 50A ESC would be up to the task.
@JustaPoke8 жыл бұрын
+sunriseshell The Hobbywing 50A has a burst current of 75A, than again I'm not getting anyware near the 50A with this prop. As stated it's underpropped. I will test it with a 13x4 at some time soon, and also on 4S.
@JustaPoke8 жыл бұрын
+sunriseshell Your link is pointing to the v2 of the motor by the way, the "older" version 1 that I have is rated at max. 45A www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__36411__Turnigy_Aerodrive_SK3_3542_1000kv_Brushless_Outrunner_Motor_EU_Warehouse_.html

+Arcee Moron OIC That ESC is a thing of beauty, I've been checking it out on HK. It looks more like an R/C car esc, than one for planes.
@JustaPoke8 жыл бұрын
+sunriseshell Yes very nice ESC, the size and weight are pretty good. Not cheap though, but very good quality. I got another 50A and the HV 100A Opto at half price on the last sale, just in case I'm gonna build something with a 12S setup in the future. :) Check them out: www.hobbywing.com/category.php?id=44&filter_attr=6345.6346 There's also a new 60A version. Thanks for your comments!
