In 30 years of flying Ive probably owned 5 of these.when my dad died he left me one with a 61 four stroke.ive never flown it because I don't want to risk it but it was my dad's most loyal and reliable plane.on the tail he wrote "old faithful".

@@nickhayley I will second that. We all go "Over the hills and far away" sooner or later, so does all we create. Airplanes belong in the sky doing what they do it is always a special thing to take a model someone built who has passed on and put it in the air again, it is alive and so is their spirit.

I’m 72 now, and when I think back on the ugly-Stick, I only have fond memories. Prior to ARF madness, I built dozens of this timeless design. No electrics sorry to say. Many sizes and power options over the years. I’ve still got two in my hanger. A .45 and a .61 4-stroke. The old .45 is my go to ship when training new pilots. A fantastic versatile timeless design. I have had one of those for a while, I have not flown it yet, I will check the gear before I do. I know it would be a great flyer because all ugly sticks fly nice! My very first RC plane was an ugly stick built from the original Jensen kit, flew it with an enya .60. Flew hundreds of flights, where I lived in AZ you could even thermal it! You have created a happy place with your channel. Thank you and I salute you!!

I remember seeing these "Stiks" in the early 70's when we were hand tossing small 049 Cox engine planes. Didn't have $ for multi-channel planes and radios back then. Maybe it is a little ugly, but very pretty in the air. "Big salute" as always.

Why is it, ugly planes fly the best. It reminds me of my single days, 2:30 in the morning, bar is closing, there’s this girl at the end of the bar... and she says- “What size is your stick?” And I said- “1100mm. I wanted the Hangar 9, 60 inch, but it was $550.00!!!” Always nice to meet a fellow RC enthusiast. Regardless of the time or place.

Well fellas, I bought one from Hobby King & the guys at Hobby King did a great job of letting me change my order to the Ugly Stick after by mistake placing an order that contained back ordered items. I had ugly sticks before & love them. This one I am going to add a ZOHF Kopilot to it to give me stabilization on windy days at low speeds plus return home when it gets to far for my aged eyes to see its orientation. Can't wait to get it up and flying soon...

I added a small piece of thin plywood covered in white monokote between the landing gear and belly of the plane. Solved the problem of broken plastic inside the fuse. 11x5 prop is interesting. I am using a 10x6. Its a great plane to fly. Try the Hangar 9 Ultra Stick 10cc. I have one with a 15cc 4 stroke nitro engine What a great flyer. My next plane will be the Hangar 9 Ultra Stick 30cc. I have a gas engine for it, just need to find the plane! Great video guys!

Petrincic Bros Sanatorium for the rehabilitation of lost souls, whether pilots or not, all welcome to permanently sunny Slovenia. I'm already thinking of moving there. Whats not to like: mountains, forests, a great economy, good healthcare and low crime. And there's the Adriatic to cool off in. Wonderful. My experience with Stiks goes back fifty years, and a dozen different sizes, they all fly brilliantly. Phil Kraft of America designed it to test his Kraft RC equipment, and had dozens made for him. Its surprising, considering how simple it is that it flies so well, but the truth is, practically nothing in my 40 plane collection comes close, and that includes pure-bred F3A planes. If my workshop burned down I'd rush in to save my two (surviving) Ultra Stick 25e and my Volantex Phoenic 2000, all the rest will have to take their chances. Almost any plane will fly because we all use vast mounts of power and big batteries, but it takes skill to cope, as the Stik does, with any power system from 400 motors to turbo-pros, and in any size from 50cm to 300cm.
