Used a regular 18mm Craftsman wrench. Used the boxed end on the wrench. Tapped on the open end of the wrench with a brass hammer. Tap tap tap until it came loose. Installed plug same way. Tightened by hand as much as I could, then tapped it over a quarter turn with the brass hammer.

I have a cummins 6.7 and had this issue on my truck. Took it to a mechanic here and told him that I don't have power when towing my 5th wheel and check engine light comes on. When driving without my trailer the light disappears after a while and i can go 70-80 mph. Hook up my trailer i can't go faster then 50-60 mph. He counted figurer out what was wrong. After watching this video i decided to pay the $40 with shipping and order this and replace it. Its been 2 weeks now and I'm hauling my trailer with no problem and its running well. Thanks guys.

Yep, used one on my cummins and blew the top off one of my injectors.filled the motor with fuel. I was towing at night and in the rain and never knew it happened until my idiot light was going off and I looked and had no oil pressure. The oil was floating on the fuel and blew out the breather. Good thing, no hydro lock and motor is still ok. Reinstalled stock valve. Be aware. They are there for a reason!

I had a 6.7 Cummins in the shop that ran away on the owner from oil in the intercooler after he replaced his failed turbo. He had installed a rail plug at the same time. Turned key off, Injectors turned off but engine running at 5-6k rpm and no where for the fuel pressure to go. Yeah bad combo, blew the pintle out of the ends of 4 injectors and cracked the tip of the other two nozzles! I install these plugs and believe they are safe 90% of the time but beware that if your truck engine were to run away and the injectors are off they will be destroyed and so will your cylinders. I have seen and heard of lots of engines having run away following turbo failures when the intercooler doesn’t get cleaned/drained/replaced. (Not under my care). Generally they shut back down after a minute or so and the engine survives. Point is in the case of my one customer the factory relief valve would have been the difference between a 60k mile motor living on instead of catastrophic failure.

so my question is i drive my truck daily and mine just did this so i parked it and i believe this is the issue but if i put one without the release valve like yours don't i risk my injectors getting over pressured and blowing up? also does my fuel economy go down because it blocks the extra fuel going back to the tank or does it not block that?

What are the symptoms when this goes bad? I heard a drop in fuel pressure but then that would mean the injectors aren’t getting enough fuel so I would imagine the motor would sound blown. It’s pressure relief so does it relieve fuel, air or both? Why no oring? I’m thinking just an Oring so why not go with a new oring? .20c part

I have an LLY with 8,000 on the motor. No mods except a RDS 64mm turbo. New engine throughout. My issue is that the fuel rail pressure is all over the place and sounds like a blown engine. It started 2 months ago and sounded like an injector knock but got much better when running above 180 degrees. Now it does this all the time. 3 shops have had it and no answers. I don’t recall it even throwing a code at all. Engine still running horrible and can’t drive it. Any advise would be great

Hey Guys, I have a 2006 Duramax LBZ motor with a bad fuel issue. I can drive down the road and the engine will just cut off. It’s like the fuel pump loses signal and the engine will just stop running. I put it in park, turn the key off and restart the truck and its like it never happen until it does it again??? Lately I have been getting a 0088 code fuel rail too much pressure code and I will clear it and it goes away for a while, but it resurfaces. Can you let me know what the problem is?? 2011 uses an electronic relief valve. It's a pretty robust design unless debris goes through it (in which case you've got bigger problems).

I have a P0088 and my rail pressure bounces. I run a sump to airdog 200 and I replaced the fuel pressure regulator but still has high psi on start up and the drivability is here and there until eot is normal. She also bouces at idle from 5-10k psi on the rail.

It was my pump going out. I fixed it by replacing all my injectors, tubes, and installing a rail plug and 12mm injection pump. She doesnt see below 14psi. I have an inline psi guage before my injection pump and my mm3 shows my rail pressure.

Lb7 has no rail pressure relief valve. Check air filter, check for boost leaks, check your turbo wastegate, if all are good, check your injector balance rates. You'll find your answer fairly quick.

Im seeing slightly low rail pressure at WOT truck always only makes 21k or a hair more but is demanding more. Has no problem getting to that 21k. I know this is an older video, but I did this fuel rail plug. And than I bought a ppe ported fuel rail fitting. And that ported fuel rail fitting leaked fuel like crazy(while I was on a trip with my fifth wheel camper). Luckily i swapped my stock fitting back in, but I’ll still get that low rail pressure code if I horse on a high tune. Did I do something wrong or should i drill my stock one out(ppe fitting has 3 or 4 threads showing)

This part is impossible to remove. The company that made it was so cheap they couldn't let the threads stick out just a few more mm. I'm considering removing the entire fuel rail just to get to this part.

I've got symptoms of plug failing but no codes. Truck is stock. Is it worth changing out anyways?

04 LOT I have an issue. P0700 and U0101 loss of communication with TCM to ECM. Symptoms are: when driving going into 4th gear its like it skips a gear or goes into limp mode but pulls out in five seconds and shifting is good until going back through the gears. Checked pins on TCM checked grounds I could find. Replaced input speed sensor to trans. Replaced NSBU module......Does ANYONE have an idea on why this is happening?? I'm stumped, research online shows little like I'm the only person with this issue. 🤕 please help I can't bring myself to take it to a dealer. Have taken it to 2 diesel shops where I know the guys and a recommended trans shop. Very helpful but all shoulders on what the issue is...

Try replacing the TCM with new unit. It will require a flash from a tech2 scanner to work. This fixed my code p0700 issue.

This DOES NOT apply to an LB7. There is no fuel pressure relief valve on an LB7. For the Duramax trucks that have the relief valve, I saw 74 ft. lbs. somewhere for this little guy! Just crank it on there like the good men at Calibrated Performance said to.

Yes but it is in the function block with the pressure sensor and not in one of the rails
