Great song, they had many hits, you should listen to Ordinary World, Rio, Hungry like the Wolf, too many to mention. Look at them in the 80s on Top of the Pops U.K. Pure class, really great band. Listen to A view to a Kill, featured in the James Bond film with the same title.

New Wave side of Pop Rock. Ordinary World is by far their biggest hit and easily their best song, Hungry Like the Wolf & Rio are classics. The Reflex is fun as is their James Bond theme "A View to a Kill".

I always classified it as "POP" but in the 90's, when they played this in "DA CLUB" everyone hit the DANCE FLOOR

Awe! How sweet! Happy Baby! Duran Duran were very popular when I was in high school, but that was ten years before they released "Come Undone". During that time their sound changed to keep up with current tastes, so the funky neo-soul of "Come Undone" is different from their earlier sound established on songs including "Girls On Film", "Hungry Like The Wolf", "Rio", and "Save A Prayer". Duran Duran were part of the "New Wave", but they were more pop than punk or even post punk. I'm confident you'll find "Rio" and "Save A Prayer" enjoyable. They're good songs that hold up well forty years later. Great music for summer fun or a daydream about a trip to the beach. PS. Their backing vocalist on the studio track is Tessa Niles. She also sang with David Bowie at Live Aid in 1985.

Duran Duran's sound has always evolved not because they wanted to keep up with current tastes, but because they never wanted to recreate the same sound for each album like David Bowie. Also, sounds & interest also evolve with age & this point of their careers (1993), they added Warren Cucurullo (guitar) in 1990 as an official member of the band, who was also involved in the songwriting process. Plus, Duran Duran's sound really changed from their sound between 1981-1985 (when Duran Duran was a five-piece band with Nick Rhodes/keyboards, John Taylor/bass, Simon Le Bon/vocals & lyrics, Roger Taylor/drums & Andy Taylor/guitar) after Roger & Andy quit the band in 1986, Duran Duran lost two songwriters & their sound on their instrumentation. None of the Taylor's are related for those unaware. The band was a trio for several years. The Notorious album from 1986 was much different from the core sound between 1981-1985. It was funk & Motown based. Their Big Thing album in 1988 was house music & Jazz influenced. Duran Duran were never punk. They were "inspired" by punk music along with glam-rock, electronic music, disco, hard rock, other new wave artists & by The Beatles.

Welcome to one of the biggest rabbit holes you can fall down. The genre is many different things depending on the song, iteration, style...basically the genre is Duran Duran. Prepare to be unprepared.😊 Oh, and yes, Nick Rhodes IS epic. The band you saw is essentially the 2013 version of the whole band, but the female is a backup singer who has sung live with them for a really long time. There are 5 "members" on stage, but only the original 4 are technically Duran Duran. That's Simon LeBon on vocals, John Taylor on bass, Roger Taylor on drums (no relation to John) and Nick Rhodes on keys. Dom Brown is the current guitarist and any others are additional touring musicians.
