Among many other things, one of the hallmarks of why Duran Duran has lasted 40 years plus and even their most banal pop songs composed have stood the test of time, is this incredible knack for writing killer/incredibly catchy/soaring choruses in all their songs. This is another example..

It happens a lot with bands that were big a while back. They keep bringing out new music that is still really good, but doesn't get the attention from radio stations. And your average music listener doesn't particularly care about anything that's not played 20 times a day on commercial radio (or these days on the main spotify streams).
@Buc_Stops_Here4 жыл бұрын
It charted in the USA, getting on the Hot 100 from Billboard reaching #33 on 10.9.2015 - their first top 40 hit since "Sunrise" in 2004. It was all over the radio that year at least in America.
@soneil124 жыл бұрын
@@Buc_Stops_Here I'm glad it got some airplay in USA. I never heard it played on the radio in Australia even though Duran Duran songs were a staple of Australian radio in the 80s. In fact their 80s hits still get a lot of play on radion. Radio stations just don't seem interested in playing anything they released since then. Most people here probably don't even realise they've release anything since the 80s despite how good their recent albums have been.
@Buc_Stops_Here4 жыл бұрын
@@soneil12 Sorry to hear that. I heard it on the radio a lot in the USA back then. Was a pleasant surprise that the primarily 1980s and early 1990s band with a huge hit in 2015. Except for Sunrise in 2004 when they reformed with the original lineup, they had not been on the radio even in the USA for 11 years.

He-unlike most celebs is STILL on his first marriage and it still works and that's down to the two of them. To have Si as your dad too. How cool. Rather have him as my husband though. He can be my bitch and I'll be his. In the nicest possible way. Grroowwlll! It's men like him that make one thing: "Got it, peeps, I've just remembered why I'm not straight" OR "just remembered why sexuality doesn't matter!"

+Kyach Distent I've been a Duranie since '82 when I fell in love with them at first sight after seeing the video for Hungry Like the Wolf on MTV. As such, I've gotten used to seeing them slagged by the press. And what is the reason??? It's because their prime audience started as teenaged girls and because of their unapologetic love of style and glamour. The slagging continues into the present day with so called journalists having the gall to refer to them as a "boy band". Seriously...wtf? At any rate, as they say- living well is the best revenge and Duran Duran are doing just that and I love them for it! ❤️❤️❤️

Yes and I love the fact they just defy the bastards by still being here, selling loads and getting out new music. You get the feeling these cocksuckers are so inbred in their misery they couldn't even admit to loving some of what they do if they tried-or they'd keep it secret. Yet look at all the shit around for the past 20 years or more-when does THAT get critcisied?! Pathetic. But good for you and me and all the others that love them. May we all continue.

What I love is that when people called them an 80s band and used phrases like riding a nostalgia or retro wave, they just kept being hip and making great new music. Now you have a whole new Generation of artists from Justin Timberlake to Snoop Dog who all say they love the band and were influenced by them. What I loved most about this CD aside from the great music was they showed the world that they are still as hip, compelling, and innovative as ever and they remain a very talented group of songmakers who create music that has stood the test of time and has appealed to multiple generations. When you see teens now embracing their music it shows that good music knows no decade or era. They are truly one of the best.

The lyrics of your songs were easy to understand, and I was able to understand them right away, so I remember being very encouraged at that time. I continued to inspire myself while listening to the album containing this song on my way to and from work. After that, I succeeded in changing jobs and it's been a long time, but I'm healthy and happy. I'm really grateful for the help of this song.

Nile Rodgers has been one of my biggest music industry heroes since I met him at the Berkeley college of music in Boston in 1985 my freshman year of school. He spent an hour telling us about his career and how he had just made a fortune working on David Bowie's let's dance album for points! Greatest pop music producer of all time! Fact check true!!! Cheers! - Judson & Buddy! - God Bless You ALL!!! :-)

I wasn't sure about Duran Duran's new stuff at first, but on the 17th I saw this song performed live and it was incredible! So much better than hearing the studio version. The whole gig had such an amazing energy and I was lucky enough to stand very close to the stage.

Where did you see? Have a vid clip to share??? :)

@@johngray0 Scarborough, England. And yes, I do have videos, but with how close I was to the stage it was so loud that it really messed up the sound quality.

Sadly, the critics were not very kind to "Paper Gods." It definitely deserves better. it's one of the only post-"Astronaut" DD albums I can actually listen to.

Songs you hear on the radio are songs that are paid to be played. Most good music today never hits radio because it doesn't need to be paid to play.
@AvisQuinntheLevel8 жыл бұрын
Davidson L. Haworth I actually don't listen to radio. I usually just listen to whatever I find interesting on KZbin. Most popular music, isn't music to me, so I avoid it as much as humanly possible.
