The clip was filmed at the Kurnell sand hills in the south of Sydney 1983 It the 70’s we used to play there, sliding down the hill on cardboard Sadly the sand hills don’t exist anymore All the sand was mined and the land reclaimed for residential near the beach and industrial area further away Suppose the clip captured a slice of our history

Rock and Roll is a much broader term than many think. Those who think this person shouldn't be in or that person shouldn't be because they don't fit their narrow definition of rock and roll are missing the point entirely. Otherwise, do they think that Chuck Barry, Bill Haley and the Comets, Fats Domino, or any of those older singers shouldn't be in there either,? There is no one type of rock and roll music. Whether it's pop, rock, heavy metal, new wave, alternative, whatever it's all rock and roll. Let's not forget rock and roll itself is an amalgam of music that started before it like blues, country, and soul. That's why people are inducted, they may not fit your definition of rock and roll but they fit someone's. So to answer your question. Yes, I think Duran Duran should be in.

Duran Duran not only set the standard for cinematic music videos but also raised the bar for every pop band on MTV that followed. This video was probably shot on 35mm film. It's a shame that this 360p version doesn't reflect the print quality of the original. A 4K transfer would be spectacular. In fact: I would pay to see all of Duran Duran's top videos on the big screen with a 4k transfer and THX sound.
@VanielDeeform5 жыл бұрын
66 Films Completely agree. And that's an excellent idea. I mentioned the same about their own Official View To A Kill video. You'll see the minute or so has been muted (just edit it out if you don't have the rights to the film audio) & is shockingly in an even lower pixel definition than this one. That and it's only a DD representation but James Bond as well. It deserves so much better in this day and age. Surely they can get a 4K video review underway already. Seems only right for such a forward looking group and their fans.
@ToEhrIsHuman4 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed it was shot on 35mm! I believe the first of their videos to be shot that way. Their famous Antigua and Sri Lanka videos were all 16mm I believe (but definitely deserve a proper remaster...I wonder if the OCNs still exist somewhere.)
@patriciaharrison2 жыл бұрын
That would just blow me away!!!!

I just hope the films still exist in good condition, because this is simply a recording of a telecine encoded into 640x360 compressed video. I've been using this video with some recent A! upscaling algorithms like DAIN and ERGAN lately, and produce blurry trash through most of it with maybe a few keyframes here and there looking fairly slick. I imagine with an actual digitized raw film transfer it could be quite good.

each decade has its quality style and this definitely was it for the eighties and this band still produces great music presently.

Simon looks so young! I was 15 when this came out, so he never looked young to me at the time. But now, looking back, he is so young!

Oh man how did I forget one of the best bass player songs ever. Rolling Stones emotional rescue. One of the best. I promise you won’t be disappointed

From start to finish, the musical arrangements go perfectly with what they are singing about & doing... Especially at 3:11 because it sounds like a worldwide emergency is about to be broadcast, and interrupt your favorite tv show.... Or bring you a special news bulletin causing a slight panic.

My dad raised me listenin to 60s 70s and 80s and I wish so badly that I could've been born then instead of 2001..I love this music!

It's nice to see a record label throwing down some serious money for a music video for a change. So often music videos are just abysmal, disappointing, infra-low-budget productions that don't do justice to the song they accompany.

Remember waiting for the next Duran Duran video to come out on MTV? From Girls On Film, to this one to Union of the Snake to Wild Boys and many others. Such great pop hits with great music videos to match!

Eighties excess at its absolute finest. Fun fact...this video premiered on MTV one full week before the single itself was sent to radio stations. That should give you an idea of how truly important and powerful the medium of the music video was in 1983.
