In Jun 2024, the sword was stolen. The original site where the sword used to hang is in Rocamadour, located in the Lot District, a part of the St. James’ Way pilgrimage route (Camino de Santiago). It is a significant pilgrimage hotspot, housing the relics of Saint Amadour and serving as the revered sanctuary for the Black Virgin of Rocamadour. While the nearest airport is Brive/Dordogne Valley (45 minutes away), the closest international airport is in Toulouse. From Toulouse, you can reach Rocamadour by car in about 2 hours, taking the A62 then A20 junction 56. Other driving routes include those from Bordeaux (2 hours 45 minutes) and Paris (5 hours 20 minutes). Additionally, there is a regional train (TER) connecting Rocamadour-Padirac station to Brive and Figeac.
