This Polar Express on the Durango & Silverton narrow gauge railway is very interesting. The K36#480 with the passenger train in the wintry landscape is very beautiful. And then the diesel locomotive #101 as the opening credits locomotive☹ But a very nice video, thanks for showing it and best regards.

I'd sure love to visit the D&S in the winter. While I've already visited them back in the summer of 2021, their winter operations are something I'd still love to witness for myself.

I went to the D&SNG last winter and was lucky enough to see 481 during her final coal burning season. It was quite a site to see a coal burner operating in Durango after years of only seeing oil burners with my own eyes.

14 cars, holy moly. no wonder they tacked on the diesel before the grade. thats the longest narrow gauge passenger consist ive ever seen.

It's also an alco diesel, so it's basically a second steam engine :p

It gets up to 15 cars during the summer.

Where did they get that whistle a steam boat😂

Why did they put the diesel on the front?
@DynamoProductions-trains11 ай бұрын
The grade gets steeper beyond Hermosa, and the train requires a helper on that portion. It makes more sense to add the diesel on the front, rather than tying the train down, uncoupling the steam engine, hooking up the diesel, then hooking the steam engine up again.
