Been once, years ago on sunday mass. Quite impressive. Never forgotten the beautiful stained glass..............extraordinary the red stained glass over the entrance

I attended a mass here on a Saturday afternoon in 2011. That was the closest I've ever felt to God in a church, I felt so small and in awe. I know that God was right there, amen.

Magnificent Byrd by a great Cathedral Choir. Thank you for this moment.

To attend a service once a year in this cathedral would be my annual pilgrimage. This place has made me feel a deep sense of awe and reverence that I've never ever experienced before and I've grown up going to church every sabbath without a miss for 18 years. I live in Fiji which is close to thousands of miles away from this place but it will be my spiritual journey annually to make it to a service.

Absolutely beautiful. Excellent performance in a splendid space which I hope to visit some day. The professional church choir in which I sing will present this and two other Byrd motets on Christmas Eve. Ahh...serene and splendid Byrd...

Truly beautiful. I plan to go to Durham Cathedral next month.

You must have been there about the same time I was, 1953 - 1958, when Cyril Maude was still playing occasionally.

Great singing - took me back to when I was a Durham Catrhedral chorister under Conrad Eden (also, at first, Cyril Maude). Peter Stanley. P.S. Does anyone know what became of my friend Gordon Gregg?

So special! Sublime! In which key are you singing? I've seen the score in several different ones. Thanks.

@pwsandmj - Have you tried contacting the Durham Cathedral Old Choristers Association (DCOCA)?

heres what: durham has the ability to be different (because its rich) and yet copies the standard cathedral style, presumably out of a lack of imagination< or indeed, integrity. Who knows?

Durham Cathedral is the 3rd oldest Cathedral in the UK. Construction began in 1093. What are you on about 'copying standard cathedral' style? Durham is pre-gothic design.

Give the Cathedral back to the Catholic church, that's what I say
@bwilliamleo78726 жыл бұрын
SigismundusRex Why? Most Roman Catholic choirs are 10 times worse than Anglican. Uk’s RC cathedral choirs are slightly better than other places, for they learnt a lot from Anglicans, whom they hate.

Back to the RC church????? They already have destroyed their musical heritage and messed up their buildings not to mention the flow and magic of the services. Give this cathedral back to the RC's and they would have the floors covered with carpet and a large barge sitting at the crossing with the altar and a rock band in the corner. Just what I've seen here in the states

Yes but one church in thousands can hardly bee seen as a success
