Very nice to hear both the boys and girls choirs singing together - a unique sound. One of William Byrd's most beautiful anthems sung beautifully at an appropriate speed. Nice tuning.

Q: why don't chorus/choir conductors use a baton?
@trips6443 жыл бұрын
There might be a historical reason, but pragmatically, in non-covid times the conductor would be standing so close to the choir that there would be no need to have a baton in order to see the beat clearly.

I don't think they allowed girls in the choir in Byrd's day.

So sad that all the boys and girls choirs have been dismantled over the false notion that kids don't want to sing. Do a search on the Episcopal Cathedrals in the US almost none have kids involved with singing or even acolytes. Its an all adult show. The services have been watered down, so its a one person show. No need for competent singers or skilled acolytes. I see too much hogging of the lime light by certain church leaders. In the past the service was a team effort and came off stately and with grandeur. Now its too often a solo event or a variety hour, trying to get everyone's pet song in or make sure their social agenda is being validated.
