My hometown. I always visit when I travel back from Canada. Was there in January for my sisters funeral. Despite the circumstances, we made the most of our visit and lit a candle for her in Durham Cathedral. Vennels cafe is our favourite place to eat. I was also there with my partner and her two teenage sons last year in July. It was their favourite place we visited in the North East, Scotland and preferred it over Edinburgh and York. It was their first time visiting anywhere outside of Canada

Thanks for sharing this. We're sorry for your loss. How nice that your hometown was the kids favourite place of everywhere they visited (and that it was their first trip out of Canada!).

I love my Home Durham City, ❤❤❤ It has changed over the years, but love it just the same because of the beauty of it especially at night. Thank you so much for the video, very nicely done.

Absolutely superb! We live 10 miles from Durham, in-between Durham and Darlington and been there all our lives, so been to Durham hundreds of times, especially as our daughter lives there but I found out things I did not know and also you went into places we have never been in before. We take the Cathedral so much for granted but it is such an awe inspiring place and I remember when you could go to the top of the Cathedral Tower free of charge but, to be fair it had to be 30 years since I was at the top. Excellent watch and so much invaluable information for anyone thinking about a visit there. Looking forward to your Beamish video, even though we have been many times, it will be interesting to see your take on it, cheers Alan

What a lovely comment, thank you Alan! Yes, I think it's easy to start taking places for granted when you have seen them so many times. The cathedral is incredible though, we ended up spending longer in there than we expected. I'm glad we were able to give you some new information and show you some new places though! Thanks a lot for watching and letting us know your thoughts 🙂

Hey guys, it looks like you had a wonderful visit to Durham. There are so many places we would want to visit! The Cathedral was stunning, and I really enjoyed the Harry Potter knowledge. The Botanical Gardens still looked like a great experience even though you were there in the winter. I would want to make it rain in the glass house 😊 Oh and we couldn't miss having a beer on a throne 😁 🍻

I live close to a park and ride and can advise they are underused, and 5 mins from city, you should have no problems parking and busses are very regular.

05.09.2022 The local press has stated that Durham has been declared one of the ugliest cities in England. I fully concur. The construction in the city over recent years has ruined the historic character.

I live 7 miles away and occasionally go there on my electric mountain bike. It's a beautiful city but recent construction could have been more sympathetic. To call Durham ugly is an insult though. It is stunning
