Damn. I just recently started as a recycling truck driver in Canada small city of 140,000 and we still do it old school. Hop out and separate the glass, dump the rest. If there is trash or mouldy shit put it back in and flip the bin. Make them clean their lawn and they won’t do it the again. If they don’t get the point just note it and a super visor truck can knock on their door.

pre trip is before the sun comes up, so you need a flash light or wear a head lamp, first check engine oil before starting the engine, while building the air supply check tire air pressure with a air gauge for truck tires and then four-way lights on the walk-around, then do the air brake check; cut-in cut-out, low warning, dynamic and static loss rates and etcetera, pull out for a tug test do not exceed 900 rpms then function test the hydraulics, no tail-gate camera in the monitor will down the vehicle, check reverse and for auto switching in the monitor, you will be leaving the yard with as many a 30 trucks do not leave until signaled by the rout manager .. before leaving the tipping floor at the landfill or material recovery facility check for loose material on the back of the truck .. do not park the truck empty of fuel, while fueling do not leave the pump unattended only after you have clocked out can you play grab-ass with the trainee and that is to be done under advisement; 'happy trash day'

Sweden: We have sorting places spread around all kind of places often nearby shops and other natural places you pass by. There you sort out cardboard, paper, colored glass, non colored glass, plastic, batteries and metal (like cans). Then we have larger recycling places where you sort out electronics, larger batteries, light bulbs, washing machines, wood, larger plastic stuff, metal and more. Drinking cans, like soda and water bottles, are in a recycling circuit where you pay a fee when you buy the drink, and then you return it in special machines in the shops where you get the money back. And at home we have compostable in one bin and the rest in one, and if you do your duty and recycle at all the other places, the bin has almost no trash at all in it (and then you also have a lower fee thanks to that). And since several years, the entire Sweden has begun going to four compartments bins. You will have two at every home, and then you can sort out 10(!) different fractions at your doorstep. Plastic, cardboard, paper, metal, and so on. The two 'extra' is a separate smaller box where you put lights and batteries and hang this on the main bin when you want it emptied. Then each garbage truck have four compartments (or five, for those smaller batteries and lights but that is just a separate little bucket type thingie) and the bins are emptied automatically into all those four compartments. Like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2G6lomVbtWGbas
