Durigo's for authentic Goan, Colva, South Goa, May 2024

Today, Viola and I are visiting a favourite watering hole in the Colva-Benaulim area of South Goa. Durigo’s is much loved in our local area for its authentic Goan food in a lovely location in the garden of a grand Goan house
Durigo’s is located on the Dabolim-Cavelossim road in Grande Vanelim, Colva, South Goa. To get there from the Colva beach side, turn toward Colva church from Colva circle. This is the Dabolim-Cavelossim road. Continue straight till you come to this fork, with the sign showing go right for Benaulim and Cavelossim. Turn right and continue straight past Colva police station. Just half a kilometre down this road is Durigo’s, itself a landmark in the area, popular for its traditional Goan dishes. You can park inside the restaurant itself
The entry to the restaurant is through the garden, by the side of the house, along the refreshing green lawn. Viola, a botany enthusiast, is quite impressed with Durigo’s garden. A great place to enjoy an authentic Goan meal with good friends
We usually come to Durigo’s at night, when the place is often full. But we have filmed in daytime to do justice to the view of Durigo’s garden setting, another reason why this Colva restaurant is so popular. Durigo’s is a great space for kids too
Today we will have a leisurely lunch. Durigo’s is perfect for leisurely meals
To start we'll have their stuffed squid, which is famous, and the dried fish salad which has dry mackerel in it. It goes well with anything you are having to drink. And since we are in the summer, it’s a good thing to have a cooling salad
The dried fish salad had a good amount of fish. Onion was slightly on the high side
For the main course, we'll have sausage chilli fry and shark butter garlic with bread
The chilli fry was quite good: lot of meat, very less pieces of fat. The quality of the sausage used is quite good
I really enjoyed my shark butter garlic. A nice light lunch for a hot day
Time to run home and hide from the cruel sun. Fortunately, home is just around the corner
