I own 2 of these generators. I was so happy when I received my first one in 2022. It really came in useful in 2023 when our East Texas spring storms hit. We were living in our RV while remodeling our home. We were out of power for 4 days and our 90lb propane tank would last 24 hrs. The next time the power went out it would not run. I replaced the regulator, no luck, had to run it on gas. I bought another one when they went on sale at Amazon to use for the house. The box was damaged and I probably should have sent it back. I unpacked it and the only damage I could see was the air filter housing was bent up. I called customer service and they sent me a new one. This unit was purchased in October 2023. We had 3 hrs on this one, connected to our 300 gal propane tank. It ran fine for the 3 hrs. and then shut down.I called customer service again and was told it was probably the CO sensor. So I replaced it and no luck. I've checked the oil level numerous times and replaced the regulator on this one too. No luck. We have been having power outages numerous times this year and so I decided to just go with gas again. It still won't stay running. Trust me, I have used the other one enough, and read the owners manual many times over. I know all the settings for either propane or gas use. I'm so frustrated at this point as we have more storms headed our way. We can always go to the RV as long as I have plenty of gas on hand. 5 gallons will last 8 hrs. I did a lot of research before settling on the Duromax, which has 4.5 stars, but now I have big time buyers remorse. So disappointed, one will run only on gas, and the other newer one won't run on anything.

my 20lb propane tank would not power this generator. It starved for fuel. I called tech support and was told I needed a 40lb tank or more because my 20lb didn't have enough pressure. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem or is it just a faulty 20lb propane tank?

How I solve this problem with my generator was to buy an aftermarket propane, quick connect hose with an adjustable propane regulator. And then I will slowly increase the pressure on the regulator until the generator will run with no problem at full throttle. Hope this helps.

May be something wrong with the regulator on the generator, hose, or the tank. I ran this generator on a full 20LB tank this weekend just fine. Only lasted 4hrs though till empty

It doesn't have an oil filter so how often do you have to change the oil? What type of oil does it use and how much.

The Duromax 13000W generator does not have an oil filter. Many portable generators, including this one, are designed without an oil filter, relying on regular oil changes to keep the engine lubricated and clean. For the Duromax 13000W generator, it is recommended to change the oil after the first 20 hours of use (this is often referred to as the “break-in period”). After that, you should change the oil every 50-100 hours of use, or at least once a season if you are not using the generator frequently. Always refer to the owner’s manual for the most accurate maintenance schedule and recommended oil type.

I’m running my generator off natural gas so my wattage is 10000. My electric water heater pulls 4000W, my two fridge freezers is 1200W, my deep freezer 500W and furnace blower motor is 800W. All that alone is 6500W, this doesn’t include anything else like cooking, lights, laundry and any other things we may need to use. 10000 might be much but I’ll never have to worry about being under powered. My neighbours can also jump on this generator if need be to power essentials. Duromax generators are great and I’m glad you own one 💪🏻

Propane gives more energy, but it's stored as a liquid under pressure. Natural gas is mostly methane and comes through pipelines as a gas.
