Davy Johnson RIP: 11 Jan 1974. Let me say this about the time we and we is Elgin who we were following then. I remember going to Davy Johnson house maybe 3-4 times. Davy had a car as few of us did. He was quite to me. Sometimes we would would meet him on the corner of Normadie and I guess that's Santa Barbara which I think now is MLk Blvd. He would hang out for a while but like I said he was quite and cute as heck. Now if he did do somethings because I didn't be around everything Brims did that was deep and if I was, I mostly was to f-up to remember, which is good. I remember seeing him at Manual a lot. His death was devastating to many of us. Elgin and about 20 of us went to his parents house and Elgin brought water for the re-past. It was sad. Rest in Peace DJ🙏

This was an interesting take on the history of this neighborhood/section. I recall seeing a short interview on how the name FTB came about. In the interview, the two individuals disputed what has been said about FTB and how they got their name from FTP in Compton. They said that they got the name FT from the fruit trees that were around the neighborhood and how it's strictly a coincidence that they have FT in their name similar to the FT in Compton California.

@activechuckss Жыл бұрын
My dad has since had a stroke he remembers Junebug well, he says he is knows that Hollywood and Monk name but he is frustrated because he’s been losing his memory more and more. Stubborn old man , he isn’t taking care of himself
@sistabrim471 Жыл бұрын
@@activechuckss, my prayers to your Dad 🙏. I'm sick also now, but I try to take care of myself but don't put sweets in my face. God has forgiven me how I treated my body and myself but my body hasn't. It's a struggle not eating things that you know that is against you. Thank God I no longer drink and drug anymore. 🙏 I saw Hollywood when I was living in LA in 2012, but he didn't recognize me until one day he approached me and asked me did I hang out at Manual Arts around 73 or 74. I said his name Hollywood and he knew I knew him because the people around him called him by his Gov name. We just chatted politely and went on about our business. He had been very sick and was finally feeling better. I didn't ask about Monk but I had already heard June Bugg went into the service and was either killed while serving or got killed a lil after he got out. I'm not sure if that's true or not. First LA Brims I hung with was Doty, Greg and Steve Taylor, Janet and Chris Morris, Norris, Lucius, Black Michael and few more that was 1969. My second half of the 7th grade at John Muir. Anywho I said I was closing that chapter of my life and trying to enjoy this large family I've been blessed with. Lil Kountry's son on his way back to prison🙏 and I'm trying keep one foot in front the other cause that's my first child and now he 52 or 53 😀 (see I'm forgetting a lot too oh well) and I know he has done 17 years already but he was younger then. His mentality and weight is not that of a 17 year old, so my grandkids and other 2 children and Great grands are spending more time with me. I'm not used to that. But someone told me too allow them to love on me. I still tend to block people out because of my past. A month ago, I sent all the Brims pictures I had to a younger Brim, letting go some more. I'm looking forward to my future. Right now I'm planting Tomatoes and Okra. 😀
