The art style of technically limited games often tried to squeeze as much visual fidelity out of their limited means as possible. The result often was a simple, yet well done style. Quake is a great example of this. Or Silent Hill 2. "Retro" shooters often think that you need to make something purposely look bad, and the design shows this: They did not approach this from a point of "I have 80 polygons for this object, how can I model this as well as possible? Can I use texture work to obfuscate my lack of polys?" - instead, they come at it from the reverse angle: "This object needs to look as crude as possible - let us showcase just how few polys we used for this." Dusk understood the difference in approaches, and that is why it looks like a homage, while a lot of others look like crap.

I’m no fan of shooters in general, much less the rooty-tooty-point-and-clock-adventure-game-modern-shooty. This though, I’m hooked. Much like the other indie, obscure and just plain forgotten games you and your fellow reviewers cover, this is a prime example of what you reviewers can do when the normal channels of communication get clogged with ads or just hype for something that is worth hyping about. Considering that remark about an Su-37 at 6:34 when are you going to make a video about the Ace Combat series?
@IntrusiveThot4205 жыл бұрын
Panzerfan93 I often wonder if it’s obscure enough. Especially since 7’s out now. I just don’t know how much he’d have to talk about. A couple years back I emailed him some info about the cut content in 3 as well as the english subs patch for AC3 JP. But as a whole the series tends to have contrived or dumb stories (outside of AC04) with amazing soundtracks and solid gameplay.
@Calvin_Coolage5 жыл бұрын
@@IntrusiveThot420 There's plenty to talk about with the series. Stuff like how Ace Combat 4 only has an English audio track or Ace Combat 5's hidden polar bears. Also should note that Ace Combat 4 is on The List.
@vantuz82645 жыл бұрын
It's on THE LIST. And he wants to talk about the full Ace Combat 3 no less. Mandalore is a man of highest culture.

Wait, what? How so?
@JimmyJohnson-fv3mq Жыл бұрын
@@OrificeHorus in faith there are a ton of nods to it but the deciding factor is that there is an image of Garry (faiths big bad) and dusks big bad (I forgot the name) aswell as a third guy all standing together for a photo. There also may be connected to ultrakill but that’s a complete guess

It's worth noting that this dev does fantastic games overall. I was a fan ever since playing Fingerbones. DUSK was a heck of a different genre for him to get into, but it's great to see that branching out paid off. =)
