This months cross channel challenge was ''Mimic" so I thought I would use this as an opportunity to get some gear built for the shop that needed to be had. I had put together a dust collection system early on, but the blower that I had intended to utilize failed early on in testing. Sooooo lets build it bigger! :)

I’ve mentioned it before: my tutor told me that, in order to be a good teacher you need a thorough knowledge of the subject and the ability to impart that knowledge. I’ve added: the willingness to impart that knowledge. You are such a talented young man and, as my French daughter in law taught me, I go to bed less stupid. Keep up the good work, Todd. 🌞

So I balanced it by placing the turbine wheel on a cone through the center hole. I actually used 1/4x20 washers to distribute weight until it wanted to sit level on the cone. Hope this helps ✌️

Amazing how people can build impeller from wood and working so well! Only real problem in this is that lower part of the impeller doesn't do much. It doesn't get air from anywhere or is there hole for its intake what I am missing out?

Awesome, that is great work Todd. Definitely a great way to save money. How noisy is that compared to a blower that you would purchase with that amount of air flow?

I just ran it this week installed into the whole of the collection system and I'm honestly quite surprised by how quiet it is. It still makes "air" noise but thats about it, I can stand and have a regular conversation without having to raise my voice! :)

OK Todd, as a retired engineer I am thoroughly impressed with your design and build. Now we just have to see what kind of static pressure it generates. Was your meter in CFM or FPM? Take care. Bill
@dukaheritage9445
@dukaheritage9445 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the humbling commentary my friend. The meter was set to cfm, I had originally picked up the meter for a flow bench that I built to test cylinder head modifications. Once I get a stand made up I’ll certainly have to do some more testing to see how this really performs in a dynamic and static capacity 😊 I noticed also that the sound levels are dramatically lowered once there is a bit of load put on this piece, 🤞 hope I can run this while filming.

Hi, what happened to your dust collection project. I'd like to know what is the CFM rating after the restriction of air flow with the dust hose or enclosure. Also, I've seen you were doing some spring washers from regular washers. You cannot do that with regular washers until they are made from spring steel. They will not keep the tension and reduce vibration etc, they will become regular washers cut on one side. Thanks.

Not seen the dual impeller approach before, be really interesting to experiment with other impeller types to see how much difference it makes.🤔 I saw another video which described how highest velocity airflow was (perhaps obviously idk) against the outer circumference of the blower housing. If you do make a MK2 it would be interesting to make the exit nozzle tangent to the outer circumference of the blower housing. Then again you’re already achieving pretty impressive airflow with virtually no iteration……🤔🤷‍♂️👍🤓 kzbin.info/www/bejne/oovCmqqhjNGAqtUsi=km6md_tL31jF3-x5
