You take out a few 'bowling pins' (spectators) down there, no one might ever see you again. I think there was a 'mis-conveyance' by the gringo's who mis-spoke what they thought was a warning to the spectators to stand back, when in fact it was the opposite, 'stand as close as you can to the racing vehicles'. It was their innate bullfighter instincts at work.
