We couldn’t be in Constantia and not visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, it is so close. We decided to walk through and show as much as we could see of the place. It is 538 hectares in size so we weren’t able to cover it all, one would need several visits for that. As I walked in, I didn’t know where to start because each route wanted to be more beautiful than the other. I found a walking path which led me to the Boomslang tree canopy walkway. This was super impressive, the way it wound its way over the top of the trees and the views were mind-blowing. I could’ve spent the whole day there and not seen it all. This is without doubt another one of those places we will have to come back to. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #capetown #westerncape #kirstenbosch #tablemountain

Even though I used to live in Cape Town I did not have access to my own transport and so was unable to visit all these amazing places that you are visiting and recording and making available to people like me. I just want to say thank you so very much. I truly appreciate the effort and the work and I pray the Heavenly Father will bless you and keep you as you continue with your adventures.

What a bonza video, beautiful. The rock formation to the left of Castle Rock,is called The Teddy Bear because of its Shape.Close by another formation called The Skull, also ecause of the shape.Near to the wild almond hedge is Lady Ann Barnard's Bath with a foot bridge crossing over it,surrounded by caycads. It has been many a year since I was in Cepe Town, place of my birth and long overdue for a visit. Thank you, glad to hear you enjoyed this one! 🌳💚 I appreciate all the added info too, all so interesting! Sonia's favourite of course now is The Teddy Bear and she'll make me go back just for that! ⛰️🧸 You clearly know this place so well and methinks too it's time that you visit again to admire this beautiful place and its city!

@@DustBugsTravel I was last in Cape Town in 1998 and the place has changed radically from what I see in your videos. A visit to Kirstenbosch is a must. Back in yesteryear, I belonged to the Botanical Society and Would come and spend whole days at Kirstenbosch. Unfortunately people have been feeding the Guinea fowls and Egyptian geese and they tend to get aggressive. Now there are signs up warning people not to feed them. I saw the Boomslang go up. Its awesome to walk there and see into the tree tops and peer into the birds bedrooms! (Squeaky tweety falsetto....) " 'Ere! Whats all this then! Humans sneekin' peeks into our private 'omes! What a nerve! You should of put up them them blinds, Percy!" You are quite right. One should come here for the day, we used to do that with a picnic in the backpack. Blissfull! The conservatories are very interesting dunno if you got to see them. Lovely place to skulk in the winter, as I often did. There are shuttles available for people who arent keen on walking. Thank you for a beautiful visit.

After reading your comment of yesterday and how regularly you visited Kirstenbosch, I knew you must know this place like the back of your hand! 🌳💚 I am never able to understand why people feed wild animals (I include species like monkeys and baboons here) and then blame them for becoming 'aggressive' afterwards when they come looking for those very easy pickings that they've become accustomed to! I luckily didn't see any feeding of the birds at Kirstenbosch and the Egyptian Geese I saw, were fortunately very mild-mannered. Such beautiful birds! 🦆 I felt like I was in Percy and wifey's bedroom as I read your comment! 🐦🐦 I had a peek inside the conservatories, but there were groups of tiny tots on excursions and I opted against filming in there. If I knew about the shuttle, I would've definitely hopped on board, I was huffing and puffing towards the end! Thank you for such personal insight into this incredible place! 👌

Kirstenbosch is incredible, only one other place in South Africa even comes close, and, in my eyes, possibly better, and that's the Drakensberg. The thing I love most about Kirstenbosch is the fact that it's not all manicured like Kew in London, it's nature and it's natural and, it's beautiful. I agree that one day is not enough, I could happily spend a full day just on the canopy walkway. Thanks for this incredible video, which was made even more perfect by not having a continuous commentary. This video is one to just sit back and watch, and dream of being back there.

Glad you enjoyed the walkabout at Kirstenbosch, a truly awe-inspiring place. For us, the wilder, the better! 🌳💚 We have yet to make our way over to the Drakensberg and look forward to that very much! It's been yonks since we were both there and we've never been there together, so I'm expecting our minds to be blown repeatedly. 🤩🗻

It is stunning, informative about plant life and history, and even adventurous. Glad you made it back to Sonia, I was quite lost. Yup, all those wonderful and beautiful things nature provides us with, I found in this magical plant kingdom in the middle of a world city! I still can't get over that bit! 🌳💚 I do hope you get the opportunity soon to visit this place, it will be well worth your time. Set aside a day though, you'll need it. And plenty of liquids! 😁 It's always a pleasure having you along wherever we may go, whether it be far away from home or closer to home like here. And whether we're on a remote gravel road in a bare and barren landscape or a green oasis surrounded by an urban environment. We're having the time of our lives seeing all the beauty out there! 🚗😍

Interesting about permits being required for cacti! 🌵 I know there were similar requirements for cycads, but not sure if those are still in place. The dinosaurs are keeping a close eye on them for sure! 🦖🦕 Glad you liked the background tunes too! 😁 It was fun having you walk around with me!
