What a lovely tour guide ❤I really enjoyed hearing about the history. It's wonderful to see that the church and building are in good condition and still original, and not just left to rot. So fantastic and heartwarming that the church is using the original buildings to help the elderly, bless them❤. This just took my immigration way back to the good olden days

That is a long way to travel in one day. Eastern Cape! Yes and it has a very special place in my heart too. Well two of my children were born in St Georges Hospital in PE. I am getting excited. Perhaps....Nieu-Bethesda? So nice to meet Belinda. Those red polished steps at the church look so familiar...I can almost smell that polish! What a beautiful peaceful church. I would love to take a seat in a pew and just have a quiet time with the Lord. The ancient Bible just blows me away. I wish I could have heard that bell. Love the Kloof, so beautiful. Yes, I still believe in good old Lennon medicines. They work. Especially Jamaica ginger. Always calms a nervous tummy. The graveyard is beautiful. All those lovely bluegums. Belinda is certainly mine of information. Wow. What an awesome tour! Thank you!

Hi Sonia and Curtis, What an exciting and informative visit to Bethelsdorp. Only heard of it before. Between you and Belinda you dug into history not told before. The historical church, beautiful structure, interesting foundations of only rock and river sand, elegant ceilings, original chair, door, historical bell. Then to the armed houses, the fountain and wash basins, the van der Kemp Nature Reserve, with its medicinal importance. All I can say is Whow. Then the flight over and the first glimpse of Sonia from above 😊. Thank you twosome. God bless

Belinda was a fountain of knowledge, we were very privileged to have met her and learnt from her! 🚙💒 The church and the relics inside were a wonderful start and then on to the almshouses who I could easily see in the Bethelsdorp of 200 years ago. 😍🏘️ The Nature Reserve was awesome to see and the natural beauty rather overwhelming! 🌳💚

Belinda is a wonderful tour guide - an asset to Bethelsdorp! She shared so many interesting snippets of information that really helped to give us a sense of what life was like during the time of the mission station and its various missionaries. I loved every moment of this delightful tour/visit and the drive through the kloof was so beautiful! And your superb drone footage is always a highlight, Curtis! You two amaze me - after travelling such a distance (700+ kms) since 4:00 am you were both so relaxed and unfrazzled - which I’m sure I would NOT have been after driving on the N2.

Omw! Thank you so much, Dustbugs and Belinda. This video brought tears to my eyes. My granny and great-grandparent(s) moved to Bethelsdorp from Salisbury Park after the forced removals. We used to visit my granny every Sunday and on other special occasions and even lived there for a couple of years. We have so many fond memories of the area, like swimming and playing in the river, enjoying my granny's extensive garden with all the fruits, veggies, herbs you could think of. Big-ma used to take us to the graveyard to place flowers on her children's grave there. Much of this history I didn't even know about. Thank you so very much.🙏🙏🙏

When I planned our route, I initially excluded Bethelsdorp, but Sonia would have none of it. She said somehow she remembers it being a historical place. And when we started reading up, the floodgates opened and we knew we would need help since it's essentially a large suburb of Gqeberha and we wouldn't know where to start looking. Belinda to the rescue and what a stunning job she did! 🚙💒

Belinda is a star! (And it's good to remember that there were love songs, too, in this country's history. All the different kinds of love. People who don't, themselves, default to loving others might get a bit cynical about that - reflecting their own suspicions and fears onto those they don't understand - but the facts speak for themselves. Within the limitations of every one of us being just hopelessly human, and never perfectly, simply, simplistically, good, bad, or whaddever, there are, and always have been some lovely people in this world. Just a sprinkling of salt's worth of the very best, maybe, but they really do exist, and really did exist.)

Hi you two! Thank you for this wonderful trip into history and nature. Belinda talking and walking us back to the place 200+ years ago was was great. The stories around the role of water and water usage since those times was insightful to me. Lots of my favourite rocky hills around! The trip into the Reserve was an experience on its own, with your beautiful drone views to top it off. I've never realized the plant life in that area is so varied. Will have to do some reading up on that some time. I'm really looking forward to the next trip. Keep safe!

Dank Curtis & Sonia voor deze flitsende aftrap en thank you so very much Brenda for all your kindness and teaching us so much about the history of this settlement ❤

Interesting fact is that there are actually much older bible's than that in the country like in our family a 14th century bible in our family that came from Scotland where our forefathers come from. These are kept in secret locations because old Bible's are of extremely high value. You might in your lifetime have one chance to see it being in this family. And there are more old Bible's around in other family's and collectors possession.

It would have been appreciated so much more if you could bring the images of the plagues out, so everybody can read it for themselves.

And I would've appreciated your comment so much more had you taken the time to include at least one positive aspect about our video which you might've enjoyed. We tend to focus on the positives in life and on our travels, so that blows my mind! 🤯 In the 340+ videos on our channel, you will note that I deal with plaques differently in each video and that is exactly what I will continue doing.

My partner is my wife, Sonia. She isn't keen on being filmed. Until she hopefully changes her mind one day, I'll respect that. 🥰
