S1 - Ep 64 - Paragliding off Dasklip Pass outside Porterville!

We were told by the owners of Ebony Moon Guesthouse where we spent the night that we must go to Dasklip Pass and see if we could see anyone paragliding off the mountain. We were so lucky to meet Simon who said we could go up with them and see. It must be an amazing sensation to just take off into the sky like that. Thanks for going the extra hike for all to see. The glider has to have a good buddy to second him and not having to experience the adrenaline rush himself, hopefully the rolls are reversed at times.

It was quite something to watch! 🪂 The complete trust in the other person is truly admirable and something that also made an impact on me. This was in January and it was sweltering, but very much worth the effort to see these guys in action. 🥵

Thanks for the video. I launched off Dasklip several years ago while on a visit to family in Cape Town. I discovered that the plain out in front of the pass is what drives the Cape Town south-easter- actually a fierce seabreaze.
