That drive over the lake to win will be a part of television high-light video for years to come.

Heck yah, especially that drive!

When DJ can bomb drives like he did on 18, it begs to wonder why he didnt do it before the playoff also. Game management and all that yes I know but it wasnt even a risk going for it, he will always clear the water.
@ikaikamaleko83707 жыл бұрын
franz beck ya know i was wondering that exact same thing....but it seemed to me he thought..." Ok play time is over....its been fun but time to wrap things up so ill just fly this water and wedge it in" haha!😃

Love this stuff. When DJ throws that big haymaker of a drive on the final hole I thought that was the shot of week. He was smart enough to know he had the right wind and certainly had the shot in his bag. It could have been a Tin Cup moment but Trevino always said you got to play to win. Bold move and it paid off.

Love the reaction from Faldo. “He’s taking it over the lake!” 😲 😂
@TheConza106 жыл бұрын
love how people complained about how "unfair" this playoff hole was. no one hit the ball where dustin did all week. he absoloutely smoked one and took advantage of the hole. the reason spieth is so good is because of putting and he can stick it from as far out as he was. two very different golfers, but the same fair game.
@solrosenberg38037 жыл бұрын
Man, he smoked that drive in sudden death! I don't think any other golfer cleared that pond in this whole tournament.

DJ on playoff drive aim directly over the lake and picks up his tee before seeing it land like a boss. The least bit concerned on distance.

@charleshendrick32647 жыл бұрын
Its funny how at the beginning of the round they keep saying he needs to make some thing happen and he is pounding huge drives right in the fairway. The reason same reason he wins in the playoff. Hitting 4 clubs up your opponent seems to be an advantage that wears on the competition even if they are the best putter.
@wx8117 жыл бұрын
Tommy Armour always said that the player with a good short game could easily win over long hitting opponents. That is if the long hitter isn't hitting greens with wedges, and having every putt within makeable distance. Jordan's beaten him before, being 30 yards behind. Zach Johnson's won against him, and other long hitters, by being accurate with the short game. It's Dustin's wedge play that made him number 1 in the world, not his driving. The driver may be hit at max 14 times a round, not considering off the deck on a long par 5. If Dustin couldn't get up and down, and if he couldn't hit his wedges onto the green within 30 feet like he does, he'd be toast.

So if you combined the two best attributes of the top two players in the world, then they might be better than Tiger Woods in his prime? Way to go out on a limb. Still debatable, though... TW had a better short game than Spieth does right now, and the stats back that up.
