Man, I love that Dustin was a fan of Dark City! A truly unique Goth-Noir Fantasy which was a great idea for a wrestling persona actually. Just imagine the feud he could have had against Crow Sting? Funnily enough The Crow & Dark City were both directed by Alex Proyas. If WCW had booked Seven vs Sting they could have hired Proyas himself to shoot the vignettes.

@@johnm3907The Matrix may be the most derivative film of it's day. Dark City & Ghost In The Shell instantly come to mind as well as a little known 1996 film called Crossworlds. Personally I don't think that The Wachowskis have ever made a film as good as their 1996 debut, Bound.

No you are incorrect. Russo was all in for the Seven character but his bosses (TBS) hated it. There was a promo 1 week before with Seven in front of the window with a kid in his room. Sting really only ever just came straight down on one cable. To have Dustin attached to 2 cables, lift him up, move him from the ramp to the ring, lift him up again and then set him down in the ring....the precise movement and amount of rigging that would take would no doubt be costly...you know, if you wanted to hire professionals to do it

Thats amazing! That segment I watched live as it aired and to this day to this very moment that I am here watching this video I maintained in my minds eye that he didn’t really (for the most part) break kafabe and dump on everything that we loved about Dustin throughout his career! (Again for the most part) Because it hurt me as a fan! I loved the entrance I was intrigued by the character then to find out that he not only hated the gimmick but Goldust as well I was a bit hurt as a fan. Bc gimmicks aside Dustin is a really great in ring performer! So I was bummed, it was like being insulted by the one you admire for being a fan of his. Alec Guinness O.G. Obi-Wan once insulted a 10 yr old fan who asked for an autograph bc Alec felt Star Wars was childish nonsense. (Alec wanted to work with Lucas more than he wanted to be in SW) it felt like that. So I am finally relieved to know that it was a work a Kayfabe/shoot with understandable notes of truth.

2:14 Nobody wants to admit the facts - Vince Russo was a fucking genius. His only flaw - he needed a slightly smarter genius to filter his ideas. Most people think that the Seven character was Russo's idea, and since they hate Russo they think the character was terrible by default. Honestly, it's the kind of thing that gives you very little hope for human beings. It was a brilliant character, and it would have been brilliant no matter who's idea it was. I wish Dustin would have brought the character back in AEW as the new leader of The Dark Order. It would have breathed new life into the group by making them actually interesting again like they were with Brody Lee. They've been the drizzling shits since Brody's death. I think they're mainly on RoH now and are back to being heels, but I don't watch RoH and from what I've seen they are still a shell of what they were. Hell, over half of the group is gone and they're down to like 3 (possibly 4) members I think not counting negative one. Anyway, if not Dark Order leader, I would have at least liked to have seen a one-off return for Halloween or something. Would have been super nostalgic and probably gone down it history much like it did back in WCW. Everyone remembers Seven because the character was loaded to the brim with Mystique.

Anyways, who cares about what Cornette thinks only? There are others in the business who have just as important, if not more important input to give. Not like Cornette ever had a hand in booking or writing some of the most watched TV segments, matches and PPVs unlike the guy he's been jealous of for nearly three decades.
