Goldust is exactly right, a script is just a baseline for how they want a story to go. It’s the persons job to make it their own, for example in Hollywood and during movies some actors just say it word for word, but the really good and really talented actors make that script their own and put their personality and themselves into it and bring it to life.

Genuinely some of my favorite stuff from that era. The 7Eleven scene, the bedroom scene with Booker's girl, the parody of Austin Powers where Goldust has a little person named "Minidust" that humps Booker T's leg, Goldust pretending to be Darth Vader and Booker T grabs the toy lightsaber and starts swinging it around and shit... so much good stuff. I had hoped that Danhausen and Hook would've been able to do the same thing together when that was a thing in AEW... not exactly of course, but Danhausen's in the role of Goldust where he's goofy and trying to get a rise out of his partner and Hook's in the role of Booker T where he's too cool for school, but entertains his partner's schtick and occasionally gives in to where Danhausen would've been the first person to get Hook to crack and show some personality. Classic comedy duo dynamic between straight man and funny man, and that's why something like that works so well when you have two guys that can play those roles and they have chemistry with each other.

You know what is so crazy about the Samoa Joe comment was the first time I saw Samoa Joe on UpUpDownDown it really took me back a step. He just had all this extra charisma and character. I thought that about the ascension too so much personality on UUDD but zero on the main roster. Wish they weren't all so afraid of getting fired. I remember being a kid and not really caring much about Booker T or Goldust(at the time), but once they started the lil skits with these two together....I pretty much instantly became a HUGE fan of both of them😂. In my brain(as someone who stopped watching wrestling around 2004) the absolute best/funniest duo's of all time were Booker T and Goldust, and also Stone Cold and Kurt Angle when they were trying to suck up to Vince and be his friend. Those two groups are comedy GOLD in my brain, even thinking about them makes me smile and laugh lol.

I fully agree about the following the script part. I want more offsite acts. That stuff was hilarious. My all time favorite was the Mark Henry / Mae Young relationship. WWE , Start bringing in wrestlers who aren’t photo copies of each other. I don’t expect everyone to be the Stone Cold or Rock or HHH but some individuality and personalities would be good.

Dustin was never on that World Champ level. If the true Goldust had remained then possibly but that very controversial version he debuted with did not last very many months until it was watered down and turned into a comedy Act. Comedy acts have no place in wrestling. Nothing is more embarrassing as wrestling fan then tuning in to raw watching With Friends and Hornswoggle or Santino Marella perform terrible comedy routines.

Have you seen his skills he might not have been the greatest in the ring but he knew his craft, just that he decided to go with the character he was given and only dustin could made him work the way it did, also sorry but like he has said it was about entertainment and he was and is to this day a great personality, I remember the times of him and other promos that where funny lie the rikishi and other chracters but goldust was genius in his interpretations, and with so many tense situation back then you needed to remember that wrestlers and their personas had a humanizing side. Like many have said dustin was given a crappy gimmick he made it into gold.
