For the bikes/builds that have had the most thought, you could do a ‘tell me about your bike’ episode. I’d love to see one on Ryan Francesconi’s bike. He‘s changed from vintage, to custom, to new custom relatively quickly, so that journey would be interesting to hear him talk through.

Love DRT!! Story time: Let me tell you a about the time I took a "quick out and back shakedown" on the DRT last spring, broke a stem valve right at the end where the trestle wash out is only to realize I LEFT MY PUMP IN THE CAR. The longest saddest day on the bike. Rode 1/2 & walked the other 1/2 back. Hard lesson to learn. Despite that, I've had many good rides there and can't wait to hear about the connector!!

You can get plastic/nylon spacers in the hardware section at a hardware store. That’ll hold up much better than a plastic straw.

Fender spacer hack: take a PaperMate ballpoint pen, remove the ink tube then cut to the size you need, solid plastic spacer that won't collapse like a straw, with the price of that bike, it deserves more than a straw!

1: Was the 30mm width that you mentioned inner rim width? If so then what is the width of the tires. 2: When you mentioned your gear....BOOM SHAQ A LAQUH...BALLER! However I was amazed with with it all. It seemed like a lot and it made me reflect. I live in MN and right now simply put it's in the 30's. I tend to run double/double until it gets closer to 0. So double top/double bottom layering (triple top for crazy cold), five finger ski type glove, balaclava. Gearing up is tough because you have to account for outside temp and its change vs your inside temp and its change based on effort. A kind of equalizer for me lately has come in the form of a 10L seat bag. It gives me the ability to have extra gear on hand and the room to swap it out. If I'm not sure about gear or I if I anticipate some kind of big swing in a ride (like stopping at a watering hole) I can pack some extra gear to bridge the gap in temp diff. 3: Tip: Sometimes I talc my hands and feet. Dry hands and feet stay warmer longer.

Did you ride as far south as the first trestle "crossing" after the spur exploration? I've ridden the trail from the park (like the 3 of you did), that far headed south and from Macks Canyon headed north...serious chunder. Also, did you ever ride the DRT before the fire that burned the old box car? Was a most excellent spot for a safety meeting.

Ron told us about the box cars and old buildings. We turned around at the trestle. That’s where I talk about the snickers.

Hey Dustin! I’ve recently stumbled upon your KZbin channel, and have been kind of binge watching your videos. I live in Washington, and do a lot of gravel riding. Today, I was watching an older one, and you were wearing a hat that said “Cadence”. The tiniest little lightbulb went off in my brain. Where had I seen that Cadence logo before? Go back to either summer of 2009, or 2010 (I toured down the Oregon Coast in 2009, and down the whole Pacific Coast in 2010). Were you bike touring along the Oregon Coast? Did you ride out to the lighthouse just north of Newport? Did you meet a woman who was also bike touring down the Oregon Coast? If so, did you give her some Cadence stickers (pink lettering on a clear sticker)? If you answered yes to all those questions, then I met you! I want to say, if it was you, you were wearing a red and white jersey. We talked briefly as I was heading back to 101, and you were heading out to the lighthouse. I still have the sticker on a 3-ring binder that I kept touring plans in. If it really was you, then it is indeed a small world!!!
@Colleenann614 жыл бұрын
Hey, it wasn’t 2009 or 10, it was 2013. June 30th to be exact. And, it was you! I found the photo on my blog (superbikerwoman.blogspot.com). Such a small world!
