Proves her intelligence & status as a powerhouse with steely composure & masterful handling of such an unbelievable caliber of interviewer. He was no match for her. She quickly delivers substantive, articulate & honest answers throughout this barrage of difficult & confrontational questioning. Why such an interview??? In front of you is one of, if not, THE most gifted & extraordinary entertainers of a generation who's done nothing but provide a treasure trove of brilliant recordings & unparalleled performances for the world to enjoy forever. She was intelligence, consummate talent & class personified.

So very special the emotional voice that was Dusty - so troubled behind the scenes but left us with a catalogue of song that makes her a unique artist. Her Memphis album is arguably the most critically acclaimed performance by any UK artist. Dusty RIP and we thank you for being one of the all time greats.

You said it well. What an idiot he was, "So Dusty, you would like to make hit records?" No, she'd like to make records that flop in the charts. He keeps badgering her with that same question over and over. Fool.

I could see by her eyes snd facial expressions she was not pleased with the way she was being interviewed . That man had no grace nor tact…Dusty certainly did however. She showed great restraint…a class act all the way . I absolutely love everything about this lady…wish she knew how very much she was loved 🥰

I was so tense watching the interview. It was like watching a crucifixion by your own countrymen. The interviewer did his homework on background info but was so rude, ungentlemenly, inappropriately dressed, and completely ignorant of the art of music and how to speak to a guest!!! I am thinking there were so many of his kind when Dusty had to make the decision to go to America. Dusty was composed and polite all the way through but it was a rough ride. I loved it when she replied, "I am not wealthy. I can afford my cat food." He just didn't know how expensive her cat's food is.

"So you would like to make hit records?" What an ass of an interviewer. Dusty must have known his reputation, she came in like a boxer. I think he was late on purpose to piss her off. You have Dusty sitting in front of you and what an opportunity to ask intelligent questions. He failed miserably and not only that, he had an axe to grind with her. Playing the offended Brit (as she left for the USA) and was out to torment her. No one can sing like Dusty. Still, great to see her in an interview, even one this bad, you get insight into her humor, intelligence, and spine.

FYI Dusty mentions at the end of the interview she'd like to be like Hildegard Knef, a singer with a very deep alto voice. She also sang "This Girl's In Love." If you want a laugh go check it out. She is good but totally opposite from Dusty's soprano vocal style. Think Dusty was trying to say she'd like to do concerts like Hildegard was doing, but she didn't get time to elaborate.

Good interview. However, another survivor of the 60s women singers is LESLEY GORE. She had a string of 19 chart singles in the 60s. Produced by Quincy Jones.

God Bless Dusty. Guy's an idiot. Keeps cutting her off. After she returned to England, interviewers seemed like they wanted to nail her to a cross for moving away from England. They all got their feelings hurt and felt rejected by Dusty? Poor woman wanted a change after working so hard in England for so many years. Dusty's not even British. She was from Ireland. She obviously could control her temper. I wouldn't have suffered that fool. She was very honest but held firm, good for her.

She had the reputation of throwing things at men she found arrogant..like hitting a water with a quiche and drummer Buddy Rich when he was too arrogant...She hit him with something and k nocked his toupe off! She used to throw tea cups against the wall I read in 1964, when she got frustrated. Always had a supply of them handy. Got to love that GAL (oops...woman!)

Rather tough interview. The fellow (who is he?) is affable but seems unconcerned with making Dusty uncomfortable. Still, she handles the unpleasantries with her typical grace and intelligence. Sad that Hildegard Knef outlived Dusty.
