What a beautiful piece of work, that table will last for generations. I had a Rockwell 12" or 14" radial arm that I only used for dadoes and half laps, so it was nice seeing you use one the same way. I'm sure some people will say, "sure he builds nice stuff because he has all the tools." I would say they are not any good without the knowledge. You also have a lot of hand work in this project that also lets us know your skill level.Congrats on the build.

Its a must have in a shop even though a lot of guys don't realize how much better it is than a chop saw.
@barmpity6 ай бұрын
@@dandeflavis7004to be fair it's generally only used dangerously or as a chop saw! 😂 Having a burned out old radial arm saw built in to the bench of a shop I moved into has really put me on to the utility over a chop saw. Even a clapped out old saw ends up being really useful! Now I really wish I could find a replacement motor or saw head for it because I'd have to tear a lot of it apart to pull the whole assembly out of there. But it's old as the hills, I think a late 70s or early 80s model off the top of my head, and so far my searches have come up dry.

You don't need to!! Just watch him and start off with a small range of tools and once you feel confident enough "start a channel and sell us your self!! This guy is good but he has the best of the best tools which are precision tools which makes joinery so much easier to do and you need to have a basic understanding of math and be creative and have the hunger for wood work and passion for the warmth that wood gives a person who loves and appreciates wood !!
@ethangerardot2047 ай бұрын
The precision in each of your large tool setups is incredible. Love seeing that. Well done. Very impressive. It is so difficult to make something like this with such a hard wood. The end result is stunning! I love that you let the splines on the table top shine. Very interesting look.

Thanks - sorry I do not have the time or space to offer mentorship’s or apprenticeships to all the people who ask. The best I can do is make these videos and more and hope people can learn from them. Perhaps in the future when I have more time and space I can offer some classes

@@dustylumberco I know. I was responding simply with that very understanding. It seems there are several folks in your comments who would also love apprenticeships. My only intention is to compliment your work. I myself also do not have time to move to Canada and do an apprenticeship. I am building furniture as a hobby, and I do hope that it will one day become my full time gig. I currently teach violin lessons to a ton of young students, and I am swamped with it until the day comes that my wood working comes much closer to your status. Thanks for sharing your craftsmanship.

Oak and Sapele is a beautiful combo, I'm working on a bench with Oak and Sapele right now. I wonder a couple things, One you use the toothbrush and wet rag for glue squeeze out and I have never gotten that to work for me. I am always left with some glue residue that does not take finish. Two, it seems like you are not concerned with wood movement with all that giant joinery. I get issues with wood movement on much smaller scale joinery.
@dustylumberco7 ай бұрын
Thanks, with Titebond if you do a good job cleaning with water there is no issues with stain. Yes depending on the joinery you will want to accommodate for movement 👍
