heir crew are dumbasses when it comes to the aircraft. They don't /won't even carry extra oil in the ramp. The crew are stewardesses. They should have dresses on. First sign of trouble they PL and walk away. They only know emergency procedures at a maximum and can't even fly in their own country because of noise. POS

Always felt there’s something special about the Chinook, it’s an absolute beast and sounds epic as it approaches from a distance- that great, deep, baritone thud always gets me out of my seat to hear it approaching and then pass at a surprisingly fast speed for such a huge lump of machinery it is.😊

I've seen a Chinook do a lower pass at an airshow in 1993. The weather was appalling and most people were in their vehicles. The Chinook came in really low to the left of the carpark and banked 90deg to go over the runway. The rotors were just a few feet from the concrete. Superb skills.

Van mij mogen ze zich hier in de Achterhoek vaker laten zien. Ook de F35 is wat mij betreft welkom om hier vaker over te komen. If some percentage of the Netherlands is below sea level, how do they calibrate their attitude gauges? Is it still relative to feet above sea level? I don't think the gauges can do negative readings, but I could be wrong.

In low flying, height above the ground is more useful than height above sea level; this is probably several hundred feet above sea level anyway
@kaasmeester59035 ай бұрын
Altimeters (when flying at lower altitudes) are calibrated to sea level, by dialling in the “QNH”, which is the locally measured air pressure recalculated to what the value would be at sea level. So sitting on the runway at some Dutch airports, you’ll see a negative altitude. (And if you look out the window at the traffic on the nearby highway, you will most certainly also see a negative attitude! 😊) Some (military) aircraft are equipped with a radar altimeter which will give the altitude over terrain.
