For many years, the meat croquette has been a favorite in the Netherlands. In this video, I delve into its history and share how you can make your own Dutch beef croquette at home. Ingredients for Stewing Beef
400g (14oz)Braising or stewing steak
1 liter (4 cups) Water
& Bellow spices OR 1-2 Bouillon cubes

1 Bay leaf
3-4 Small Dried Chilis
1 Teaspoon whole Cloves
2 -3 Star Anise
2-3 Garlic cloves
1 Onion
½ Teaspoon Cumin
¼ Teaspoon Anise seeds
1 Teaspoon Peppercorns
½ Tablespoon Salt
Ingredients Roux
50g (¼ cup + 1 tbsp) Flour
50g (3 tbsp + 2 tsp) Butter
½ Teaspoon grated Nutmeg
2 Sprigs Curled Parsley
Ingredients Breading
Approx. 1 Cup Breadcrumbs
Egg whites of 2 Eggs
& Enough oil to fry
Enough for 10 kroketten OR approx 15 bitterballen
