This was really helpful. Could make a second video explaining how the nordic countries dealt with this?

Is why Norway put its resources incomes in an investment fund. It is still there....

Would you say that Norway avoided 'Dutch disease' with their state-ownership of the oil reserves?
@enterpriseeconomicsbusines72244 жыл бұрын
Interesting. They also have an enormous sovereign wealth fund to diversify income portfolio away from oil.

@@enterpriseeconomicsbusines7224 I'd say all the things on the short term impact list happened, but they limited the negative long term impacts, not only with redistribution of the profits from oil - but also the wealth fund being an additional source of income. I lived and ran small businesses in Norway for 15 years, and it was incredibly difficult. Almost every venture fails after 5 years or so as the cost of labour is so high - so there is a lack of interesting services available over there - quirky or specialist shops, as well as cafes and restaurants tend to open and close rapidly. It's a frustrating place to do business if not in the primary sector.

Interesting perspective. Thanks for telling me about it. I've never been. Best wishes👍

it's an acronym used in the UK to remember the effects of a currency appreciation. SPICED: Stronger Pound, Imports Cheaper, Exports Dearer (When your currency gets more valuable, importing goods from other countries is less expensive, while your goods will be more expensive for other countries to buy)

Is Dutch disease afect more develop countries or less developed? Please
@itstheandreaforme75503 жыл бұрын
Less developed countries, since most of them have large source of primary resources and lack opportunities to specialize or increase their industrial field.

Why do you mention government tax revenue. That's the consequence, not the cause. Declined productivity is the problem. If caused by Currency appreciation, then why not isolate all profits from that industry like Norway...
