This week on Huge Moves S4 - A team race against time and tide to transport a fleet of mega-yachts worth over $160million from Genoa, Italy to Fort Lauderdale in Florida. The 20 bespoke yachts are too precious to sail across the Atlantic. So a Dutch team create a customized 'submersible' yacht transporter-ship to ferry the luxurious pleasure boats around the world.
The mission's success lies in the hands of loading master Tieke Springer. She must load, balance and secure the yachts on the transporter ships flat deck precisely so they can survive the rough sea crossing. Halfway through the 8,000km voyage, the ship runs into a hurricane. Will the precious cargo survive this deadly encounter?
-
Super-size missions, risky routes, and the biggest cargo on the planet-imagine hauling a submarine over dry land, transporting a fleet of mega-yachts across the Atlantic, or relocating 20 ancient Egyptian temples...and now meet the heavy hauliers who tackle incredible odds to get the job done.

Remember he has a nice house there in florida, likely another one in europe, he has to pay salaries and maintenance on the yacht with is roughly 10% of the purchase price per year. ten million for a yacht - you'd reckon he would have spent a bit more on the weave. It's undetectable at 15 nautical miles.

Bet at that net worth, Visa worries are a thing of the past. Money makes life so much easier. Also got to love how the the Captain just "decided" one day he'd sail the world on a private megayacht, as if it was a choice that we all got 😂

The beginning of the video discusses conventional 'shipping'. Cost may be an issue. But they specifically mention that shipping imposes more risk of safety and damage issues. Also, few ports have cranes large enough to lift 165 tons, let alone to a height of 50 feet or more. Also the 165 ton yacht discussed here is considered only a 'small' size mega yacht. Some are over 1000 tons. The largest is 16,000 tons (as much as the transport ship itself). The transport ship is probably limited to ship under ~250 tons. Given this, a.lot of travel and scheduling issues are averted by having this ship able come to various ports.

If those yacht hulls were not cleaned and anti-fouled during the voyage, someone needs to be fired on either side. One, for not selling that, and two, for not taking advantage of the drydock time.
